During Stina Hagsten's upbringing in Vetlanda, she was always surrounded by people who played and sang. Her interest in music has been there for as long as she can remember, and even though she attended the natural science program in high school, she chose to train as a music teacher after graduation. Stina Hagsten's main instrument is the saxophone, but she also plays the flute and clarinet.

Congratulations to Josina Vink, Bo Edvardsson, Katarina Wetter-Edman and Bård Tronvoll for receiving the 2019 Robert Johnston Award: Outstanding Paper of the year for the article "Reshaping mental models - enabling innovation through service design" published in the Journal of Service Management, JOSM. The 2019 Robert Johnston Award recognizes their contribution to JOSM and to the service field.

Practical placement Through the practical placement included in different courses in Civics, contacts are established with the schools which receive our students. In courses which include longer periods of practical placement, the cooperation with schools is enhanced through the visits and other personal contacts that are employed to follow and support the students’ development.
Of all organized educational activities, testing procedures are perhaps the most consequential for the learners. The project Testing Talk, funded by the Swedish Research Council between 2013 - 2016 [Reg. no. 2012–4129], we have examined interaction in and the assessment of second language oral proficiency tests, using the speaking part of the national test of English in 9th grade as our empirical case. What happens when two teenagers sit down to take the test, instructed by their teacher?

6G-PATH

The 6G-PATH project aims to take a prominent role in the development and integration of new and improved tools from EU companies with 5G/6G. To achieve this, 7 testbeds will be included in the project that will be used by 10 use cases spread across four key areas: Health, Education, Smart Cities, and Agriculture. The goal of the 6G-PATH project is to contribute to the development and integration of new and improved tools and products while relevant KPIs and KVIs are measured.

In 2023, Ingesund School of Music recruited a professor in music education. Her curiosity in improvised music has been a driving force and inspiration since childhood. Something which she is happy to share with future music teachers. Her name is Guro Gravem Johansen. Guro Gravem Johansen comes from a small town in a rural part of northern Norway. When the other children played football, she would sing and play the piano in her room.

Swedish Language Research

The subject of Swedish conducts research in several areas, of which a large portion relates to different points of view on literacy – writing and reading – from a learning perspective. This includes projects on the topic of reading multimodal texts in Years 7–9, digital literacy instruction in teacher education, and the writing development of students in higher education.

The EU-funded project Service Design for Innovation, SDIN, aims to build a research platform in service design and innovation through a Europeean training network for early stage reseachers. The project started in January 2015 and is now at the half-way point. During the first two years the project has achieved the expected results, and the network is well integrated and communicates regularly.
