Library card / Kau card for students
As a new student you don’t have to get a separate library card, you use the KAU card as a "library card". The PIN you choose for your KAU card is the same that you use to borrow or reserve books.
If you need to borrow before you have obtained your KAU card, you can send an email to biblioteket@kau.se. You can get an account by showing a valid ID, and also your t-number if you are an exchange student.
Special education has its scientific basis in a number of different subjects, such as pedagogy, medicine, psychology and sociology. The Grants and Innovation Office (GIO) has access to the VFT funding programme through its involvement with the innovation office Fyrklövern. On the basis of a competitive application, the university receives an annual grant from this Vinnova programme.
This funding can be used to verify innovative ideas that might benefit the world in the form of new businesses, licensing, and so forth. It cannot be used to finance research.

Karlstad Business School has been given greenlight to proceed in the process for an accreditation by the Accreditation Committee at the AACSB. The work now continues towards building a robust and sustainable quality control system as a support for a continuous development of the school.
Just over two years ago, AACSB granted the Business School's request to start a process towards accreditation. It was the start of a quality development work for the entire department.

Julio defended a thesis entitled "Designing for Usable Privacy and Transparency in Digital Transactions" which was based on some of his research publications.

What do you do for a living today?
- I work as a consultant at AF and I have been primarily working as the Systems Compliance coordinator there. That means making sure that the systems ÅF uses are adjusted and follow the new General Data Protection Regulation.
Even though the snow is still missing, Christmas is approaching, and at Ingesund School of Music preparations are underway for the school’s traditional Christmas concert at Arvika Sports Hall. A festive atmosphere framed by a charitable cause, inspired by the prominent visit of Musikhjälpen at Stora Torget in Karlstad, is promised.
Is there a special theme for Ingesund’s Christmas concert this year?
– Generally, we’ve never had a specific theme.

Stefanija Klaric from Darwin, Australia was supposed to visit us three years ago, but then the pandemic happened. Finally, she has arrived at Karlstad University and is currently exchanging experiences with fellow engineering scholars.
– I have been here a while now and it’s very rewarding to meet both teachers and students here at Karlstad University, says Stefanija Klaric, associate professor at Charles Darwin University.
The graduate school offers doctoral positions in various subjects and is held together by joint courses and seminars and focuses on practice based research. It aims to develop knowledge of how different content in specific school subjects is transformed in teaching. The Graduate School is a collaboration between Karlstad University, Halmstad University and University West.
The spread of coronavirus has had consequences that nobody could have imagined when the first reports from China appeared in January. The ongoing effort to limit the spread of infection and protect old people and persons with previous medical conditions concerns society as a whole, including Karlstad University.
Many people are worried, of course, about health aspects and about the societal consequences that the measures taken will have.

There will be a national minute of silence on Tuesday 11 February in honour of the victims of the tragedy in Örebro. Karlstad University will participate.
The initiative of a national minute of silence was declared by the Swedish government, who also urge that flags be flown at half-mast from 09.00 until the moment of silence has ended.

You get access to talking books by contacting the library's contact persons. They will give you an account to MTM's catalogue Legimus and also teach you how to download and read talking books.
In a collaborative effort to assure the quality of education at their universities, some universities are making their own evaluation of each other. Today the Treklöver Report about Karlstad Business School's- part of Karlstad University - educational programmes in Information Systems was published.
