The term of office for the Centre for Social Risk research (CSR) board expired 31 December 2022 and acting Vice-Chancellor Margareta Friman has decided on a new board. The current term started 9 February and ends 31 December 2025.
The new board comprises both external board members as well as representatives from Karlstad University.

The other weekend, the Ingesund School of Music celebrated its 100th anniversary for two days. They hosted a grand concert featuring several guest artists, as well as Ingesund's large symphony orchestra and soloists.
An international perspective is a given in the media industry. Using your elective term to study abroad is not only a smart thing to do, but also an adventure which will prepare you for a future career and life in general.

As part of the Testing Talk project, we have designed and conducted recurrent workshops on oral proficiency testing interaction and assessment designed as professional training for language teachers.
The workshops are based on our research on interaction in and assessment of oral proficiency tests and focus on common themes and problems in speaking tests.

All undergraduate programmes are presented and grouped in areas of interest. Please note that most of the programmes are taught in Swedish.
A completed upper secondary education usually meets the admission requirements for most undergraduate programmes. Upon completion, students are awarded a university diploma, a professional degree or Bachelor’s degree and may move on to Master-level studies, or to a job.

School subjects are in constant change and in this project we put a focus on how school subjects are constructed in relation to formal and informal aspects and how this can be understood in relation to powerful knowledge. In addition we have a special interest in how these constructions can be understood from a policy perspective. With regard to formal aspects, we study how subjects are constructed and manifested in national tests of English, History and Swedish.
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Karlstad University wishes to honour a person with a prominent role in the Swedish music industry. She also has ties to Värmland and has been of great importance to Ingesund School of Music in connection with the annual Polar Music Prize where she acts as CEO.

- It feels great! I am both happy and proud. I am so pleased that my work as a researcher and teacher were evaluated and found to reach docent standard. I feel it's an important step in my career.
You have a doctor's degree in Information Systems. What is your research field?
- My research work is mainly conducted in the area of Information Systems Development.

My post in January 2023 was about the launch of ChatGPT which attracted a lot of attention when it premiered a few months earlier. I was asking for a dialogue about how artificial intelligence that generates content and data can be applied in our organisation.
Within Rose, research is conducted within a number of different projects where the starting point is that questions about social, economic and environmentally sustainable societal development need to be posed in relation to teaching and learning. ROSE has a clear socially relevant focus in its research with a focus on exploring areas from a comparative subject didactic perspective.
Last May the site visits to the universities were made, and now the report on cluster nine has been submitted. The Treklöver partners for quality development at Karlstad University, Linnaeus University and Mid-Sweden University have each submitted a report on the respective university.

Why did you choose Karlstad University?
Karlstad University has a good reputation and graduates from the business and economics programme at the time were extremely satisfied with their studies. The university college had been there for some time but the university was new.
Richard Ek and Mekonnen Tesfahuney, both professors in human geography at Karlstad University, recently finished a paper called “Sloterdijk, Geomedia, and the Existential Tourist”.

Amie, what did you study at Karlstad Business School?
- At first, I studied for a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management, but it didn’t suit me so I switched to Business and Economics with a specialisation in Marketing, and received my degree in 2020.
Why did you choose to study at Karlstad Business School?
- I have always found Karlstad Business School to be an attractive choice.

The SOFIA Study
Several ongoing and planned studies are conducted within the framework of the longitudinal study on the social and physical development, interventions, and adaptation of children (the SOFIA study), carried out in collaboration with Karlstad Municipality and Örebro University.
The overall purpose of the SOFIA study is to better understand the development of children's social, physical, and mental health, including deviant behavior.
The programme has been redesigned with two semesters of in-depth study in an elective subject and with a clearer focus on cultural policy and conservation. Why?
The Culture, Policy and Management Programme is based on Cultural Studies generally, with a focus on cultural policy and cultural heritage. Two semesters are devoted to in-depth study of a field, namely Film Studies, History, History of Ideas, Art History and Visual Studies or Political Science.
