Why did you choose Karlstad University?
Karlstad University has a good reputation and graduates from the business and economics programme at the time were extremely satisfied with their studies. The university college had been there for some time but the university was new.
Richard Ek and Mekonnen Tesfahuney, both professors in human geography at Karlstad University, recently finished a paper called “Sloterdijk, Geomedia, and the Existential Tourist”.

Amie, what did you study at Karlstad Business School?
- At first, I studied for a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management, but it didn’t suit me so I switched to Business and Economics with a specialisation in Marketing, and received my degree in 2020.
Why did you choose to study at Karlstad Business School?
- I have always found Karlstad Business School to be an attractive choice.
The programme has been redesigned with two semesters of in-depth study in an elective subject and with a clearer focus on cultural policy and conservation. Why?
The Culture, Policy and Management Programme is based on Cultural Studies generally, with a focus on cultural policy and cultural heritage. Two semesters are devoted to in-depth study of a field, namely Film Studies, History, History of Ideas, Art History and Visual Studies or Political Science.
SUBJECTS
Classical vocal studies, opera ensemble and chair of the Artistic Committee at Karlstad University.
BIOGRAPHY
I work as a professor, voice teacher, researcher and head of subject of Classical Voice at Ingesund School of Music. I did my Master of Fine Arts at the Royal Acamdy of Music and the University College of Opera, both in Stockholm. I continued my studies at the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 1991–1995.

Community dance involves the art of dancing, participation and social sustainability through interacting with a local place and local people. In Community Dance the amateurs are experts on their own story and by collaborating with a professional artist they are supported in narrating and communicating it.
In this way Community Dance can function as a tool for social, human as well as artistic development. Community Dance involves embodied understanding.

From regional development to region building and now social change. The Centre for Region Building (CRS) changes name to Centre for Research on Sustainable Societal Transformation and celebrates the ten-year anniversary of its graduate school. Research fields change with social change. CRS has developed a new research programme and a name change was called for.
”The former name – Centre for Region Building – was no longer relevant.

From this autumn, Karlstad University is offering a new three-year study programme in computer science for those who like IT and programming, but who are not interested in studying physics, electronics or a lot of mathematics.
“The programme is tailor-made for those who completed upper-secondary school programmes in Science and Technology,” says Tobias Pulls, coordinator of the new programme.

Welcome to Karlstad University! You newly started your employment here as a postdoc in computer science. What and where have you studied before you started here in May?
In the spring I earned my doctor’s degree in computer science with a specialization in distributed systems at the University in Bamberg, Germany, where I also earned my Bachelor and Master degrees. But this is not my first time in Sweden.
TELL-ability is a research project funded by the Swedish Research Council (dnr 2022-02920) conducted at Karlstad University by Erica Sandlund, Birgitta Ljung Egeland, Silivia Kunitz and Christina Olin-Scheller during 2023-2025.
The telling and sharing of stories have long been viewed as central to human experience, memory, and imagination.
The pro-Palestinian protests that are taking place at universities and university colleges around the world have now also reached Karlstad.
On the night of Thursday 16 May, a group of protesters set up tents in the park next to the main entrance of Karlstad University.
