Research and collaboration are an important part of the department's activities. We strive for an interdisciplinary research environment and to be a leader in our specialist areas. We also collaborate with companies, authorities and organizations.
The department carries out a wide range of research projects in a variety of legal disciplines.
Everyone at the university has a responsibility to ensure that research is undertaken in conformity with the law, in line with funders’ terms and conditions and in accordance with best current practice.
With the emergence of firms such as Spotify, Uber and Airbnb, the markets related to music, travel and accommodation have lately been under dramatic changes.

That is the question Sara Davoudi has looked into in her doctoral thesis, “What happened with the leviathan of the Public Sector? The challenges of vertical coordination in regional public organizations and its effect on public value”.

- My research is about vertical coordination, which is best described as the communication between public sector actors and the challenges associated with that.

Redevelopment of the square outside House 11 began in April and has now been completed.
On Monday 14 October, Akademiska hus holds an official opening at 10-14.
The terraces of the amphitheater have been freshed up using a pressure washer and there are also new benches, steps and a fence at the top. The square itself now has trees, bushes and perennials, along with places to sit on one side and a stage on the other.

Why did both of you choose to study at Karlstad Business School?
– I think the biggest reason is that we’re born in Värmland, says Erik Steijner. Moving to Karlstad felt natural. We didn’t have any solid plans for life, so instead of applying for random jobs, we chose to study.
What were your expectations for the degree programme at Karlstad Business School? Did it live up to your expectations?
– Our original idea was to study IT, says Erik.
Karlstad Business School has qualified for a final review by AACSB, a non-profit organisation that works with quality enhancement and accreditation of business schools around the world. The review will be performed in connection with a site visit late 2020 or early 2021.
“I am incredibly proud of the quality development towards accreditation that we have achieved together over the last few years,” says Martin Löfgren, Head of Department at Karlstad Business School.

During Stina Hagsten's upbringing in Vetlanda, she was always surrounded by people who played and sang. Her interest in music has been there for as long as she can remember, and even though she attended the natural science program in high school, she chose to train as a music teacher after graduation.
Stina Hagsten's main instrument is the saxophone, but she also plays the flute and clarinet.

The 6G-PATH project aims to take a prominent role in the development and integration of new and improved tools from EU companies with 5G/6G. To achieve this, 7 testbeds will be included in the project that will be used by 10 use cases spread across four key areas: Health, Education, Smart Cities, and Agriculture.
The goal of the 6G-PATH project is to contribute to the development and integration of new and improved tools and products while relevant KPIs and KVIs are measured.
