An Erasmus+ traineeship is normally offered within Europe. There is limited funding to support Erasmus+ traineeships outside Europe. This means that you can apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship, which will be approximately 510 - 615 Euros a month. You can carry out your practical placement at a company, organisation, or research and development centre in any country that is included in the Erasmus+ programme.

Loredana Sundberg Cerrato from Dublin gave an intriguing seminar on February 10, 2016.
Loredana, who also presented the ADAPT centre in Dublin this day (see post on the web pages of Information Systems), gave an in-depth view on research on dialogue supporting machine translation between languages for the HCI group and Master students.

In this course we work together to produce a stage performance. We add costumes, make up, voice and props to dance and movement and set up an exciting stage performance. Students develop an understanding of the various parts of a production, choreography, role analysis and reflections on artistic perspectives.

On November 16-17, the DRIVE project held a two-day kick-off meeting at Karlstad University. The aim for the kick-off was to get the DRIVE and its subprojects officially started and to let all partner representatives and researchers meet face-to-face.

Ann-Britt Enochsson grew up in Eda in western Värmland. While in senior high, she took a break from school and worked for some months in Helsingfors, so when she graduated she wanted to learn Finnish and was admitted to a course at Stockholm University, which was her first contact with the academic world.
Political Science research at Karlstad University mainly concerns two areas of interest: political procedures and processes at the local and regional levels, and social science education.
Political procedures and processes at the local and regional levels
European societies in general and the Nordic ones, including Sweden, in particular have undergone changes which entail an increased political and executive role for regional and local agents.
The next board meeting is coming up soon. As usual, we compile a report for the board with the latest updates. One thing hits me.
Since the last meeting, we have had three ministers visiting our university or planning to visit us, we have welcomed an astronaut, 2,500 upper-secondary school pupils, met with the Ministry of Education and Research, organised one of Sweden’s largest job fairs and, of course, many other exciting activities as well.

"Interventions are about promoting a behavioral change with targeted programs or services," says Frida Skarin, Doctoral Student in Psychology and main author of the article.

“I am Director of Compensation and Benefits at Spotify. This means that I work with everything from salaries, bonuses and options schemes to health insurance and other employment benefits. We rely on a reward philosophy and employ basic pay-setting principles and strategies.
Anna Jansson jumped in at the deep end. She has lived in Germany and Ireland, and for the last four years she has called San Francisco home. She started by taking freestanding courses at Karlstad University and today she is brand marketing manager at Google.

Learning to weld in vocational education

Brief description of the research:
This study focuses learning processes involved when a vocational teacher and upper secondary students interact with tools and materials in relation to the object of learning to weld. We combine two different perspectives in the project; conversation analysis (CA) and variation theory analysis (VTA).
What shapes us and gives us our culture and subculture? With scientific backing on culture, interculturality, and internationalization, Eunice offers a digital course that concludes with a week of full-time studies.
Religious Studies is by definition an international discipline and has been organised in this way at Karlstad University for a long time. The impact of today’s global and multicultural society is present in all our subject courses.
Our department is often visited by international guest lecturers who discuss religion and the teaching of religion in different national contexts from varied perspectives and give the students many opportunities for international insights.
Jessica Westman, Ph D Student in Psychology, defended her licentiate thesis "Experiences of everyday travel - through the lens of a child" on December 11th at Karlstad University.
The purpose of the thesis is to investigate how children experience their everyday travel. More specifically, do travel mode, travel time, and travel activities influence children’s experiences of their everyday travel, their current mood, and their cognitive performance.

Karlstad University gives priority to the internationalization of education and research to enhance academic quality, among other things.
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has engaged internationalisation for a long time. We participate in a number of networks and have partnership exchange projects with developing countries too.
On 1 February this year, Adrian Sangfelt moved from Uppsala to Karlstad to begin work as an associate senior lecturer in Swedish with a specialisation in didactics.
– It’s a great job. I can’t really think of another job I’d rather have, he says.
We meet in his office in House 12 where he is preparing for the autumn term.
