Our research in the field of religious studies has primarily a focus on pedagogical aspects. Pedagogy in religious studies can be understood as an applied or praxis-oriented field of research.
Researchers at Karlstad University have launched a new project, Learning and Living with Insects, which aims not only to increase understanding of our insects but also to equip society with the tools to protect biodiversity.
Through literature, lectures, seminars and experimental workshops, students are introduced to different approaches to integrating a democratic perspective more purposefully in dance instruction. In relation to the tradition of artistic dance, various concepts such as views of the human being and knowledge, body, apprenticeship, freedom to act, participation, diversity and equality are discussed.The concepts are explored, concreticised and problematised in relation to dance teaching.

Inspired by the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP), the project aimed to tighten the connection between theory and practice in the Early Years Education Programme at Karlstad University in different ways. The project had two different parts, the main part focusing on preschool student-teachers’ professional development and an additional project focusing on how the students were received during their teaching placements.
The Swedish Minister for Social Services, Camilla Waltersson Grönvall, is on a 2-day visit to Karlstad University this week.

A new board for Karlstad University has been appointed. New representatives for teachers are, CTF's director Per Kristensson, together with Niklas Gericke and Jan van Stam. New external members, appointed by the Government, are Pam Fredman, Ann Fust, Mikael Liljestrand and Amir Sajadi.
The GiftED doctoral programme will, on behalf of the Swedish Research Council, develop knowledge on gifted education with regards to pupils in Swedish pre-school, primary school and secondary school, a field that is relevant to teacher education as well as to research in educational sciences.
To more optimally stimulate pupils who easily achieve goal attainment in school, we need more extensive knowledge about gifted student education.
Study Spanish, a world language, at Karlstad University!
Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world and people on all continents speak Spanish. It is the second largest mother tongue in the world, after Mandarin, and almost 600 million people speak it, including many students of Spanish. In the US, there are more people whose mother tongue is Spanish than in Spain!
The research project Privacy & US, coordinated by Computer Science at Karlstad University has gained a new partner, the Swedish company Sentor. The aim of the project is to find new solutions to issues regarding personal data and integrity.
As more and more organisations handle personal and identifiable information, it is of great importance that citizens are protected from harmful use of this information.
