Georg Gulyas was born in Säffle. His Hungarian father worked at the city library while his Finnish mother worked at the church daycare centre. He acquired his basic qualification in classical guitar from Malmö Academy of Music.
After completing his degree, he continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, École Normale de Musique de Paris and Juilliard School in New York.
Geomedia is an interdisciplinary research centre that brings together more than 30 researchers and doctoral students. Our vision is to lead geomedia studies by offering a nurturing and transgressive research environment.
At the centre, we conduct research in the broad field of media and communication geography, focusing on the interplay between media, spatiality and mobilities in light of contemporary and historical transformations in technology, society and culture.

Compare Business Innovation Centre (C-BIC) is a co-operation between Compare and Karlstad University. It aims to stimulate business development, research and innovation with the regional ICT industry as its starting point.
The project has a focus on test and security and should contribute to enhanced regional knowledge. The project is funded by EU regional funds.
In the most recent CTF publication, Lars E. Olsson and Margareta Friman have examined user characteristics, motives, and barriers to carpooling, this to gain insights about carpool interventions.
Carpooling can be viewed as a simple intervention to reduce congestion, environmental problems, and land use for parking spaces.
The G1-test is performed remotely by recording video clips and submitting them to us.
Preparation
You are required to prepare one (1) compulsory song and one (1) optional song with your own accompaniment on piano or guitar.
Performance
You sing one compulsory and one optional song while accompanying yourself on piano or guitar. You must play the same instrument for both songs. In the compulsory song, you should follow the sheet music to the best of your ability.
Briefly tell us about your background
- Academically socialized in media studies, last year I became a professor of design theory at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in the city of Halle, Germany. Before that, I worked as a scientific coordinator of the interdisciplinary research school "Locating Media" at University of Siegen that had a strong focus on researching location- and situation-specific media processes by means of location- and situation-specific methods.

Following last year’s success, the race Kausläppet has now become something of a tradition as part of the Walpurgis Night (Valborg) celebrations at Karlstad University. Last year, close to 100 people took part in the race.
– We are hoping for at least 200 this year, says Felix Edrud.

Farzaneh Karegar, Senior Lecturer in Information Systems at Karlstad University – would you mind telling us about your background?
- During my bachelor's and master's studies in Iran, I studied Computer Engineering, specializing in Hardware Engineering. Upon moving to Sweden, I worked as a project assistant for the European project A4Cloud at the Computer Science Department at Karlstad University.

Researchers at CTF have been granted 3.9 million SEK for research on future customer experiences. In the project the researchers will develop new knowledge on how to make retail and the hospitality industry more attractive through digitalization.
- The progress of digitalization leads to new ways to consume goods and services and physical stores are finding it increasingly difficult to compete with e-commerce.

The Artist Diploma is a one-year advanced course in repertoire studies and interpretation aimed at exceptionally talented musicians with very high artistic and professional abilities. The course prepares for an artist career with a focus on developing professional skills to work internationally as soloists and chamber musicians. Upon completion of the course, you should have developed the ability to independently prepare public concerts and recordings at an international level.
After our visit to Hudderfield in May, it was now time for John Bonner to visit Karlstad.
The discussions with John Bonner concerned research activities related to innovation management and interaction design with the use and evaluation of ubiquitous and pervasive computing but also teacher exchange.

What do you do today?
“I am an assistant auditor at Grant Thornton and work in Karlstad. After graduation, I immediately got a job at PWC in Norrköping. I really felt that it was the right job for me, but my girlfriend was still in Karlstad and a long-distance relationship is not that easy. So I moved back to Karlstad and switched to Grant Thornton. This time it was also easy to find employment because of what I had studied at the Karlstad Business School and my theoretical background.

Outgoing StudentsIf you travel abroad as a student or trainee from Karlstad University and are registered via the International Office you are covered by the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency (Kammarkollegiet) Student UT insurance. You are covered around the clock for the whole period abroad in the country in which you are studying / training.
Karlstad University has research equipment in several places in its premises. Now it could also be found outdoors. Since February, a Starlink antenna has been installed on the roof of the building where the Computer Science researchers are located.

Janna Dervisic is a new PhD student in Business Administration at Karlstad Business School. She is placed at CTF, Service Research Center, and part of the Swedish Research School of Management and Information Technology, MIT. Her research will focus on innovation, services and digital technology.
Janna Dervisic has a master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlstad University, and has been working in the construction industry the past year.
