At Karlstad University, you can choose between about 40 programs at the undergraduate level and about 30 at the advanced level. The programs lead to a degree and are composed of courses that you study in a certain order.
Funded by GEXcel International Collegium   The Trans Studies Research Residency programme started in February 2017 as an initiative of the Trans Studies research group working at the Centre for Gender Studies. The aim is to create an inspiring space for collaboration between trans scholars as well as offer much needed time for focusing on research and writing. The residency will take place for the fourth time in spring 2019.

These devices have proven to be the world's most successful solar cells since decades, covering about 94 % of the world market.

The SOFIA Study Several ongoing and planned studies are conducted within the framework of the longitudinal study on the social and physical development, interventions, and adaptation of children (the SOFIA study), carried out in collaboration with Karlstad Municipality and Örebro University. The overall purpose of the SOFIA study is to better understand the development of children's social, physical, and mental health, including deviant behavior.

Trustworthy publishers do not usually approach you like that, there are some rogue publishers that exploit the open access business model. Most commonly the so called predatory publishers will charge for the publication while trying to maximize profits by keeping costs down and to publish large volumes.

In a new doctoral thesis from CTF, Pernille K Andersson is investigating how the servicescape is changed by the influence of music, self-disclosure, and eye gaze on service encounter experience and approach avoidance behavior. - Our feelings and behavior are continuously affected by our surroundings. Stores have servicescapes which have a big influence on customer’s experiences and purchase decisions, says Pernille K Andersson.

At the end of the spring term, Karlstad Student Union took the opportunity to surprise some members of the teaching staff that students wished to pay special tribute to. "Celebrate a teacher" was the name of the campaign running during the spring semester and on 19 June the result was announced on the student union Instagram. Individual students as well as societies had been invited to nominate candidates via videos published on the student union Instagram.

An intense and eventful half-year is coming to an end – and there is much to be proud of. Recently, I had the privilege of leading the international conference, QUIS19 – The 19th International Research Symposium on Service Excellence in Management, in Rome. Over 275 participants from around the world gathered to be inspired and to discuss how research can help address the major societal challenges of our time – such as AI development and sustainability.

This means that these pupils usually can learn and remember new information more easily, and can process it more quickly than their classmates can. How should teachers adapt their teaching so that these pupils also are stimulated and can develop?

Karlstad University is testing a new evacuation plan in Building 21 (Vänern). The first person to arrive at the place where the evacuation vest and instructions are placed may evacuate the premises. This applies to staff as well as students. The plan entails that there are trained evacuation leaders, but if they are not present when the fire alarm sounds, others need to take the lead in evacuating the premises.

Information Systems at Karlstad Business School, welcomed a new teacher on the first of August. Gunnar Olsson, with a sterling background within the IT-business and a former Olympic medalist, has stepped into the academic world. Gunnar Olsson is originally from Timrå, a place north of Sundsvall that has a strong athletic tradition, not least in ice hockey with the men’s A-team of Timrå IK in the Swedish hockey league, SHL.
