The activities of Geomedia are organized in three research tracks: (1) Mediatization of Space and Culture, (2) Spaces of News Production and Consumption and (3) Tourism and Mobility Studies. These tracks are not exclusive entities but serve as articulations of the Geomedia profile as a whole.
Work methods and tools with focus on games are being developed for stakeholders on both sides of the Swedish/Norwegian border to improve society’s security and preparedness in relation to climate crises.

When Norway became independent in 1905 and closed the border to Sweden, the Swedish state decided to force hundreds of Sámi families to move from the very north of Sweden to a location further south.
Businesses need service innovations to survive and strengthen their competitive advantage. By explaining how firms and key actors (such as entrepreneurs) manage to remain innovative, our research explains why innovation platforms are central.
Empirical observations show that key actors or entrepreneurs often drive change in service ecosystems and the development of innovation platforms.

TRUEdig investigates how businesses that develop privacy-enhancing services also can increase users’ security and sense of empowerment.

The subject of oral health has a multidisciplinary focus and forms a whole with knowledge from the natural sciences, mainly dentistry and medicine, as well as social and behavioural sciences, creating the foundation of the independent professional practice of a dental hygienist.

On Friday 10 March, students participated in a mock trial in Karlstad as part of the course Methods in Tax Law. Four groups represented the parties – the Swedish Tax Agency and the person charged with tax fraud. The chief judge, Ulrika Melin, welcomed the students in the court waiting room.

VIPP Graduate School, which started in 2011, will reach the finishing line at the end of 2020. The occasion is celebrated with an event in connection with Papermakers Light on 12 November.

CoSIE, Co-creation of Service Innovation in Europe is a three-year research and development project with a total of 24 participants in 10 European countries. The aim is to study the extent to which social services involve the users themselves in the development of their services.
