Folkmusic Commission’s sheet music collection and the Music Museum’s fiddler books.Through this presentation, the Swedish Music Archive Svenskt visarkiv and the National Music Collections Statens musiksamlingar provide access to the entire extensive sheet music material in the Swedish Folk Music Commission’s collections, as well as the Performing Arts Museum’s Scenkonstmuseets collection of fiddler books. Parts of the material have previously been published as Svenska låtar (1922–1940) and Svenska folkliga koralmelodier från Gammalsvenskby och Estland (1945), which are still available in reprints from the Swedish Music Archive. Svenska låtar covers only a small part of the entire collection and in many cases, the songs and tunes have also been edited to a greater or lesser extent. Here, you now have the opportunity to easily access the large primary material yourself - about 45,000 pages of songs and tunes in the form they were added to the Folk Music Commission’s and the Music Museum’s collections.
