Visualizing the smart city - Professor Gillian Rose, The Open University, UK.
Digital technologies of various kinds are now the means through which many cities are made visible and their spatialities negotiated. From casual snaps shared on Instagram to elaborate photo-realistic visualisations, digital technologies for making, distributing and viewing cities are more and more pervasive.
The NEAT project won the Best Demo Award at the IFIP Networking conference, in Stockholm (June 12-15, 2017). The Demo was presented by Zdravko Bozakov (Dell EMC) on behalf of all the authors.
The demo, titled "A NEAT framework for application-awareness in SDN environments", is joint work from KaU and Dell EMC illustrating how NEAT can be integrated in an SDN scenario.

But the pandemic has also made visible the pervasiveness of ageism and ableism in Western societies where the freedom, health, and lives of old and/or disabled people have often shown to be secondary priorities to those of keeping the wheels of the economy rolling.

The panel aims to present research at Lund University’s Gender Studies Department on the regulation of sexuality and gender expressions, both imposed from above and as activist initiatives defining the boundaries for acceptable sexual behaviour and claiming the right of defining one’s own sexuality, gender expression, identity formation and bodily integrity.
Researchers at Karlstad University, Uppsala University and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York have found that exposure to bisphenol F (BPF) during early pregnancy can be linked to poorer cognitive function in children at 7 years of age. BPF has replaced bisphenol A (BPA) in a wide range of products as the EU has banned BPA in products for children.

Henrik Gustafsson is a Professor of Sports Science. His research focuses on stress, recuperation, and performance development from a sports psychology standpoint.
The first European Workshop on Usable Security (EuroUSEC) took place in middle of july, in Darmstadt's "Darmstadtium". It was a success with more participants then expected, roundabout 90 persons joined the workshop, and inbetween the presentations there were lively discussions from various perspepctives.
All in all 22 papers from 77 authors from Europe, but also from the United States, Canada, Brasil, India and Pakistan had been submitted.

Researchers at the Centre for Social Risk Research (CSR) at Karlstad University have conducted a study about app-guided climate walks as a way of conveying knowledge about climate change and its effects.
The study was made on behalf of SMHI and is funded by the special SMHI grants aimed at promoting climate change adaptation efforts.

Nordtrad is a folk music conference for students and teachers in higher music education from the Nordic and Baltic countries. The conference is arranged every year in rotation by different host schools, and in 2023 Ingesund School of Music is the proud organizer.
During the week, students from seven different countries are invited to participate in lectures, workshops, concerts, field trips, jam sessions and fellowship.

Tourism actors are now online, which changes the conditions for how the industry communicates with visitors, how marketing, itineraries and bookings take place, and not least how visitors experience the destination.
The rapid digital development creates challenges as well as opportunities.
