Traditional folk music conference promise the public a real treat2023-04-05
Nordtrad is a folk music conference for students and teachers in higher music education from the Nordic and Baltic countries. The conference is arranged every year in rotation by different host schools, and in 2023 Ingesund School of Music is the proud organizer.
During the week, students from seven different countries are invited to participate in lectures, workshops, concerts, field trips, jam sessions and fellowship. The conference also culminates in two concerts that are open to the public.
- Nordtrad is a unique opportunity for participating students and teachers to meet in, around and around folk and traditional music and dance, says Ronja Grafström, former student at Ingesund School of Music who works with the conference. It is difficult to put into words exactly how important Nordtrad is; "exchange", "networking" and "collaboration" fall short and fail to fully describe the inspiration and motivation that is ignited during the conference. Dancing until you sweat, workshops led by both teachers and students and folk music jams from sunset to sunrise.
