There wasn't always a university in Karlstad. Fact is, we became a university in 1999. But there is a long tradition of higher education in Karlstad. There's been teacher education here since 1843, and it goes on to this day.

The course is primarily aimed at new teachers at Karlstad University, but the course is focused on practical teaching, and therefore suitable for teachers with extensive experience as well. This course is also suitable for doctoral students who will teach.Extent80 hours.

With more than 200 released productions that have sold millions of copies, the co-founder of Silence Records and Silence studio, Anders Lind, is one of Sweden’s greatest music producers. He now receives an honorary doctorate from Karlstad University for his accomplishments.
Anders Lind is one of the founders of the record company Silence Records and the Silence studio in Koppom, Värmland. He has his roots in the Swedish music movement and is a pillar of Swedish progg.

Edgardo Luna is from El Salvador and has also lived in Mexico. Thanks to the double degree programme in Mathematics with Karlstad University and Università degli Studi dell’Aquila he has now also experienced living in Italy and Sweden.
- During the programme, I became fluent in Italian and learnt the basics of Swedish. At the moment, I am working as an academic writer for a university back in El Salvador.
Karlstad University collaborates with Karlstad Student Union on social activities for incoming exchange students as part of introducing them to studies in Karlstad and working for their inclusion in both student life and the wider community.

Annika Rudman was born and raised in Borås, but has family ties to Värmland as her father and grandparents come from Höljes in northern Värmland. She has a law degree and a master’s degree in human rights from Lund University.
After completing her studies in Lund, she moved to Gothenburg where she completed her PhD at the School of Global Studies with a thesis on women’s property rights in southern Africa.

Evelina Landstedt comes from a big family in Färila in Hälsingland, central Sweden. After completing the natural science programme in upper secondary school, she was the first in her family to go on to university studies.
She took courses in the history of science and ideas, sociology and gender studies at Lund University.

Research on oral health aims to apply a salutogenic perspective, which means that research is characterised by the importance of health factors for oral health in different social groups and throughout the life cycle.
The SELMA study is being conducted at Karlstad University in collaboration with Region Värmland and a number of national and international research groups in the field of environment and health. The study follows more than 2,000 mother-child pairs from early pregnancy (week 10), through childbirth and up to the school age of the child.
Cultural Studies looks at the conditions and expressions of human culture from a cross- and multidisciplinary perspective.
Research is primarily tied to KuFo (the Research Group for Culture Studies), which is one of Karlstad University’s prioritised research environments and which has been validated numerous times as a strong research group by international experts.

The European Commission has granted Karlstad University the ECHE accreditation (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) until the academic year 2027.
ECHE can be described as a driver’s licence for institutions of higher education in Europe to cooperate with possible financial support from the EU. The accreditation replaces the previous ECHE-accreditation (2014-2020) .
Being awarded the ECHE means that Karlstad University meets the EU’s quality criteria.
Ikea is the most innovative company on the Swedish market followed by MTR Express and Netflix in second and third place. This is according to the Swedish Innovation Index, a new index which focuses on innovation from the customers’ perspective, developed by researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, Sweden.
