Christina Olin-Scheller is a professor in Educational Work and temporarily a professor at Contemporary Literature, Karlstad University. She is head of the centre formation Centre for Language- and Literary Didactics (CSL) and the strong subject didactic research group Research on Subject-specific Education (ROSE). Olin-Scheller's field of research is reading education and young persons reading and writing in correlation to inter-sectional perspectives in today's media landscape.

Around 2 500 students study at Karlstad Business School. They study undergraduate programmes, masters' programmes or doctoral studies.

CRE8®Europe - a digital experiment
The fourth and final competition in the CRE8®Europe project was could not be held as planned, but is still a good proof that it is possible to be "stronger together alone". Due to covid-19 the last and final CRE8®Europe was held digitally.
Seventeen students sat around Europe, with their own computer. They were divided into groups and competed in innovation and creativity.

I have very fond memories of my semester in Karlstad. The time that I spent in Sweden has influenced my personality and career in a very positive way. I received an unique cultural experience and fell in love with the Swedish way of life and the Swedish education system.

The Swedish government's Digital Strategy (2017) outlines plans to use digital technology to create a sustainable society, but digitalization and datafication of economic, political, and social processes widely rely on resources of private companies whose commercial priorities may not align with universal values.

Judith Kiros, PhD student in English Literature at Karlstad University, has been awarded Sveriges Radios Lyrikpris 2024 for her poetry book “Det röda är det gränslösa”.
– It means a lot to me, says a very happy Judith Kiros.
This is the third literary award that Judith Kiros has received in short succession for her poetry book.
Doctoral studies lead to a PhD in English, the highest university degree. A PhD will qualify you for a career in academia.
At Karlstad University, we offer PhD programmes in English with specialisation in linguistics or literature, and PhD candidates have the opportunity to design their dissertation projects within either of these subject areas.

Critical studies on age and ageing focus on social dimensions of age and ageing in everyday life and in society. The research group is multidisciplinary with a mutual interest in critical and social science perspectives on age and ageing.
Instead of taking age for granted, the research group’s critical perspective focuses on age as an important basis for the distribution of opportunities, rights, and obligations in society.
Are you interested in cooperating with the lab? Our research/teacher team and you as a partner will jointly define a project where you will get access to the knowledge created in the project. It is also possible to hire the lab and the equipment.
An important part of our work is to promote and partake in cooperation and collaboration related to our research areas. We work together with actors within and outside the university. Our collaboration projects typically also includes people affected by, or in risk of, natural hazards.
