Seke Chainda, a student in the Biology Master's Program at Karlstad University, has been named Global Swede of 2019. On May 21 he was celebrated, together with other Global Swede students, at a ceremony at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
On May 21 the distinction Global Swede was conferred on twenty-six international top students from Swedish institutions of higher education.

Karlstad University Library, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, now offers researchers access to a local GPU cluster. This cutting-edge resource is available through the JupyterHub platform.
What is the GPU Cluster for?The GPU cluster is designed to support computationally intensive research tasks such as machine learning, data analysis, simulations, and image processing.
CRE8® is a model for innovation-challenge events, developed by the Grants and Innovation Office at Karlstad University. A public or private organization provides a real-world operational challenge to which teams of students try to find solutions. Since it was first introduced in 2017, the CRE8® model has become a very successful concept. With funding from Erasmus+, Karlstad University is now training facilitators to run CRE8® events around Europe.
The Centre for Language and Literature Education (CSL) is a multidisciplinary research environment in which researchers and teachers from different subjects cooperate on subject-specific education research and development work. CSL researchers are actively engaged in different research groups at Karlstad University as well as in national, Nordic and international networks.
From 5 May, Karlstad University will be using a new system for educational planning. The administration of study programmes will transfer to Ladok and the new system “Kompletterande utbildningsadministration”, KUA (Supplementary educational administration).

SweDigArch has been awarded funding from the Swedish Research Council to create a national infrastructure for digital archaeology. The new infrastructure is a collaborative venture between six Swedish universities, the National Heritage Board and National Historical Museums. SweDigArch is a unique initiative that will link data from research, archaeological excavations and digitized museum collections.
The research within the physical chemistry group at Karlstad University is fundamental and of applied relevance. The common theme is molecular interactions between components in complex systems; polymer-polymer, polymer-colloid and interactions under concentration gradients.
The digitalisation of society has led to a constant pursuit of better performance. Through a new research project, Computer Science at Karlstad University wants to help speed up the process.

Current initiatives in intersectionality theory relating to indigenous studies (Olsen 2018) as well as ethnic studies (Carlsson 2020) argue that the starting point for such intersectional approaches are ‘the margins rather than the centre’ (Olsen 2018).
