The Center for Research on Social Risks has an advisory committee consisting of representatives that work with risk issues in society, climate adaptation and personal safety - both in academia, in business and at authorities. The role of the committee is to work broadly with quality assurance and to strengthen the relevance of the work.
Doctoral programme in Chemistry at Karlstad University
PhD studies in chemistry are given with five specializations at Karlstad University: analytical chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, materials science, and chemistry education. Chemistry as a subject includes the study of basic and applied processes at the molecular level.

Geomedia Speaker Series is a series of lectures and workshops focusing on the field of geomedia studies, i.e., the intersection of media and communication studies and human geography. Internationally leading researchers from different disciplines are invited to give an open lecture and participate in a thematic workshop with members of the Geomedia centre, and other interested parties.

Sunet Drive should be used for all storage and internal sharing of research data at Karlstad University.
Climate change communication spans several disciplines, which in many cases have an insufficient understanding of the each other’s research traditions. Sol Agin has compiled the literature review Mapping the Field of Climate Change Communication 1993–2018.
- The purpose of our systematic literature review is to shed light on the field of environment and climate change communication, says Sol Agin, doctoral student in Media and Communication Studies.
At Media and Communication Studies (MKV) at Karlstad University, we conduct internationally prominent research with a particular focus on issues at the intersection of MKV and geography. These include the relationship between media and mobility, how media habits are both created and shaped by the spaces and places we move through, or how the local and the global interact in the contemporary digitalized media landscape.
Seven out of twenty, or 35 percent. That is the number of research projects at Karlstad University that have been approved and receive funding from the Horizon 2020 EU framework program. The average in EU is 11 percent. One of the projects funded by Horizon 2020 will be led by researchers Bo Edvardsson and Bård Tronvoll at CTF.
The Horizon 2020 EU framework program was launched in January 2014.

Reducing Internet Transport Latency (RITE) aims to remove the root causes of unnecessary latency over the Internet. Whilst time-of-flight delay is inevitable, greater delays can result from interactions between transport protocols and buffers.
The present Internet limits the performance of applications that need real-time interaction. In part this is because the design of the network has been optimised to boost throughput, maximising efficiency for bulk applications.
Most courses conclude with a written on-campus examination designed to test your knowledge. Other forms of examination include take-home exams, laboratory sessions, seminars, and written assignments. Doctoral programme in Political Science at Karlstad University.
The doctoral programme in Political Science may result in a licentiate or doctoral degree. The programme is specifically designed to equip students for continuing academic work nationally or internationally, as well as to pursue careers as political scientists.
Joann Peck has been appointed Visiting Professor at CTF. The Visiting professorship is funded by Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander Foundation for Media Research, which provide grants to cover the cost of a visiting professor at the CTF for a month during the next three years.
- I am so excited to be invited as a Visiting professor at CTF and Karlstad University. I have been fortunate to work with Anders Gustafsson at CTF on several projects in various retail settings.

The objective of this research project is to analyse counter-urban migration as a relocation strategy in order to improve the social sustainability of everyday life (i.e. better work-life-balance and quality of life) among families with young children in Sweden.
Previous research in Sweden on counter-urban migration consists mainly of register based studies failing to address the complexity of factors in everyday life.
