PERUPP
We are increasingly aiming for personal and tailored experiences rather than one-size-fits-all solutions. This is particularly true in the tourism industry, which has evolved from "all inclusive" to "yours exclusive," where the overall experience depends on both the various services offered at a destination, and the specific interests and needs of the guest. Modern digital technology provides opportunities of realizing this in practice without requiring too much labor.
The research project, PERUPP, will develop and demonstrate an AI-based configurator in which several local actors' offerings are linked together according to the guest's individual preferences. The project is carried out with a focus on cultural experiences in Värmland.
The PERUPP research project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund within the scope of the VisitorsXLab project. The three-year project has a budget of 4.7 million SEK. The project is part of the Academy for Smart Specialisation, a strategic partnership between Karlstad University and Region Värmland. PERUPP is led by researcher Siri Jagstedt (CTF and Karlstad Business School). The project group also includes Peter Magnusson (CTF), Ahmed Al-Beywanee (Computer Science, Karlstad University), and Firas Bayram (Computer Science, Karlstad University). Visitors eXperience Lab Värmland, with a total budget of 13.5 million SEK, is led by Pernilla Bredberg at Visit Värmland.
