Karlstad Business School provides education and research in among other areas responsible leadership and sustainable working life and organisation. As part of an international context of knowledge, Karlstad Business School has signed The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).
On 18-20 of June, BioWiseTrans partners Nordregio, NIBIO, LUKE, Oslo University and Karlstad University came together in Hamar and sorroundings for its second workshop. Like last time and importantly, different stakeholders from Norway, Sweden and Finland joined us.
The meeting focused on the need to address and study conflicts and synergies in the ongoing transition towards a fully biobased economy.
The word cooperation means that several different parties work together. It is interesting to determine what the interaction between research, industry and public services can lead to.
During a six month period Karlstad University will be developing a strategy for web-based distance learning at advanced levels. Training courses will be developed in partnership with industry and various community stakeholders, and are based on research conducted at some of the University’s excellent and strong research groups.
Innovations start with ideas. Knowledge of how to create, develop, and select ideas that lead to successful innovations is therefore essential.
This course will give you anoverview of idea management practices, and teaches you how to manage the generation, development, and evaluationof ideas for innovations.

Political understanding of maladaptation
2020-04-21: Political theories and concepts are to an increasing degree applied as analytical tools for the negative aspects of climate adaptation (maladaptation).
How will our actions today affect future generations? What would the effect be if we looked not just 50 or 100, but millions of years ahead? And what role does history play in creating a sustainable future?

Recent progress in the area of Machine Learning, AI and Optimization enables intelligent decisions to be made that e.g. improve the quality of the production processes and the final product, the prediction of system properties (such as sales forecasting or power generation), the prediction of machine downtime (predictive maintenance), among others.
The focus area “Intelligence” addresses research that is required in order to engineer AI algorithms for a given use case (e.g.

DigitalWell provides industry and public sectors with research on the developments of digital social security services focusing on the needs of its users.
DigitalWell Research is a sister project of DigitalWell, run by the Compare Karlstad foundation. The common goal is to create an innovative environment, where research, industry and public sectors may interact to develop new digital social security services. Services in education and healthcare are prioritised.
In order for pharmaceuticals to be safe, they must be clean of pollutants. Carbon dioxide can be used to make the purification process more environmentally friendly, which may seem paradoxical since carbon dioxide is usually associated with a negative climate impact.
