Digital Well Arena is a collaborative initiative on digital solutions for a healthier life, between the public sector, academia, civil society, entrepreneurs and business in Värmland. Recently, a workshop was held to make an inventory of the needs for digitalisation in the healthcare sector, what problems society and individuals would benefit from having solved.

There was strong demand for places at the 11th International IFIP Summer School on Privacy and Identity held in Karlstad, Sweden last month thanks to recent changes in EU data protection regulations and the emergence of smart Big Data.
Around 90 people attended the interdisciplinary program, which ran from 21-26 August, focusing on data protection and information privacy from technical, legal, ethical, HCI and industrial perspectives.

In the spring of 2017, I carried out my practical placement at Region Värmland’s European Office. I studied the political science master programme at Karlstad University and chose to complete my programme with international placement.
Mobile broadband gives 30% lower performance than normal broadband. This is shown in a new study presented by Karlstad researcher Mohammad Rajiullah at The Web Conference 2019, a top-ranked (A*) conference held on the 13th –17th May in San Francisco, USA.

For the second year running, Computer Science at Karlstad University organized a workshop for external input on the research environment. Computer Science staff presented the research environment to an International Advisory Board (IAB) that gave feedback on the development of the research group.

It was clear that the Computer Science research group has developed significantly on many fronts since been designated an excellent research environment in 2014.
We are a multidisciplinary group and we work interdisciplinary with knowledge on societal risk.

I allt från modevärldens nostalgitrender till politiska retrotopier vänds blicken numera mot historien snarare än mot framtiden. När det inte längre är möjligt att ens skönja en ljusnande framtid bortom klimathot och pandemier blir istället det förflutna något eftersträvansvärt. Historien blir något att återvända till och rentav återskapa efter eget skön.
This subproject, "Migration and Transformation of Powerful Knowledge", addresses one of the major social issues of today - migration and cultural encounters. Like the other subprojects in ROSE, this project centres on practice-oriented matters.

The project 'Language use - Swedish and English' is going to investigate how high-functioning students within autism spectrum disorder (ASD) use their first and second language.
The project investigates the use of Swedish and English of persons with ASD.
Gothic fiction has become increasingly pervasive and popular and invaded all cultural registers – popular, high brow, children’s and young adult fiction – in the Nordic countries in the last few decades. Contemporary Nordic Gothic has been well received and acclaimed by both critics and audiences, nationally as well as internationally.
Western music history has largely favoured male artists, while women and non-binary performers and composers have largely been excluded from history writing. This has contributed to musical canons where important voices are missing.How may canonical traditions in music be challenged and expanded, from a gender perspective?

RESPONSE (Demand-Responsive Transport to ensure accessibility, availability and reliability of rural public transport) is an initiative run by the public transport sector aimed at developing and coordinating existing publicly funded transport services.
