Salman Raza Naqvi, senior lecturer in chemical engineering, has been awarded a medal by the Government of Pakistan for his research.
– I feel very honored and it was a nice ceremony where I got to receive the award that was presented by the president at a ceremony where many prominent scientists were honored, says Salman Raza Naqvi.
The justification for the Excellencies in Research and Education in Chemical Engineering award is Salman's very extensive publication record
2019 was an active and successful year for researchers within SMEER. Several large projects have been completed and others started up during the year, including large research grants from the Swedish Research Council, which includes collaboration with researchers from Germany. SMEER researchers have taken great responsibility for teacher education, not least for the initiative towards postgraduate teachers (KPF).

Under många år har frågan om att kunna erbjuda livslångt lärande varit en viktig del för högskolor och universitet . Denna fråga är idag mer aktuellt än någonsin med tanke på den omvandling som idag sker inom olika yrkesområden. Samtidigt som behoven ökat så har också konkurrensen ökat från olika andra aktörer.
The Swedish Institute for Educational Research has granted funding to three projects at Karlstad University focusing on practice-oriented education research. The university also has a co-applicant involved in another project. The objective of the projects is improved teaching within the Swedish school system.
The researchers at Karlstad University who have been granted funding all have a particular interest in subject-specific education.

"The deracialization of Sweden", is a recently published research anthology focusing on issues of race, racism, anti-racism and whiteness in a Swedish post-war and contemporary context. The anthology is edited by Tobias Hübinette and Peter Wikström, researchers at the Research Group for Culture Studies (Kufo) at Karlstad University.
