Transforming the current economy into a ‘new’ bioeconomy needs changed institutional frameworks at regional and national level, sensitive to and inclusive of placebased knowledge. This conference in Karlstad 27-28 of March, aimed at better understanding the role of people and networks in this transition.

Are you curious about our music teacher education? The application period for the autumn semester 2025 is approaching. New this year is the option to apply for an open genre as an alternative to our traditional genre areas for main instruments in both the music teacher program and the one-year course Music 60 credits.
The open genre is aimed at those who play music in a genre outside the areas of folk music, classical music, or jazz.

As of Autumn 2020, there was a new model in place for UPE’s courses for university teachers. We now offer more courses but each course is less comprehensive. It will also be up to the individual teacher and his/her supervisor to choose the courses that are most relevant in their particular case.
UPE’s mission is to provide excellent, relevant training and thus support teachers in doing their job.

The 17th annual Teacher Education Policy in Europe (TEPE) conference is being organised at Karlstad university, Sweden from 8th – 10th May 2023. The theme of the conference is: Transformation of knowledge in and on teacher education: policy and practice in times of change.

The 13 May licentiate Tonje Grahn sucessfully defended her thesis in Risk- and environmental studies titled "A Nordic perspective on data availability for quantification of losses due to natural hazards".

This project, funded by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB, aims to develop the Swedish application of the U.S. Hazus methodology and to evaluate the applicability of the U.S.
The language café at the university library will continue during the spring semester 2018.
The language café will take place every tuesday between 4 pm - 6 pm. The time and place are the same but now students are in charge of the café.
The Language Café is aimed for anyone who wants to improve there spoken Swedish, but you need to be able to speak and understand some Swedish to participate.

The symposium Here, There, Everywhere: The Figure of the Serial Killer addresses this curious ubiquity, asking questions such as: Why is the figure of the serial killer so fascinating to so many people?

Corona pandemic's negative impact on the labor market is also found in the IT industry in the form of reduced investments and procurements as well as discontinued projects. This impact is visible at both national and regional level.
The stagnant labor market has negative consequences both for those who are already established in the labor market and for newly graduated students.

Sweden’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic stands out in many ways compared to other countries. One of the most obvious is the method of implementing interventions. Specifically, the Swedish strategy is based on recommending its citizens to act in a certain way and trusting them to follow these recommendations.
Marie-Therese Christiansson, Information Systems, Karlstad University is recognised by the university for outstanding outreach activites.
Karlstad University awards on an annual basis one person or group of persons who have excelled for several years in outreach activities. Karlstad university wants the Silent room ( 3C315) to be open to everyone.
The door should always be kept open. In the event of noise outside, keep the door on the verge, do not close it. There is a secluded part that is available to anyone who wants privacy.
The room is available for prayer, meditation, tranquility, contemplation and other.
Why is primary health care utilization per person almost twice as high in for example the Stockholm region compared to the Östergötland region? The difference in health care utilization between Swedish regions is large and has increased over time.
