Most courses have a roll call at the start of term. Attendance is usually required. You also have to register for the course to which you have been admitted at the start of term via the web. If you fail to attend the roll call or register for the course, you might lose your place.

Are you curious about our music teacher education? The application period for the autumn semester 2025 is approaching. New this year is the option to apply for an open genre as an alternative to our traditional genre areas for main instruments in both the music teacher program and the one-year course Music 60 credits.
The open genre is aimed at those who play music in a genre outside the areas of folk music, classical music, or jazz.

As of Autumn 2020, there was a new model in place for UPE’s courses for university teachers. We now offer more courses but each course is less comprehensive. It will also be up to the individual teacher and his/her supervisor to choose the courses that are most relevant in their particular case.
UPE’s mission is to provide excellent, relevant training and thus support teachers in doing their job.

The language café at the university library will continue during the spring semester 2018.
The language café will take place every tuesday between 4 pm - 6 pm. The time and place are the same but now students are in charge of the café.
The Language Café is aimed for anyone who wants to improve there spoken Swedish, but you need to be able to speak and understand some Swedish to participate.
Before each new semester, you must apply for the course or courses that you are taking via universityadmissions.se. This applies to all students, including degree programme students.
If you are a degree programme student, you will easily find the courses you need to apply for via My Kau. You can also find your courses manually on universityadmissions.se.

In Karlstad we provide the dance education program and a wide range of independent courses, such as Dans 60 hp. Sweden’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic stands out in many ways compared to other countries. One of the most obvious is the method of implementing interventions. Specifically, the Swedish strategy is based on recommending its citizens to act in a certain way and trusting them to follow these recommendations.
