Edgardo Luna is from El Salvador and has also lived in Mexico. Thanks to the double degree programme in Mathematics with Karlstad University and Università degli Studi dell’Aquila he has now also experienced living in Italy and Sweden.
- During the programme, I became fluent in Italian and learnt the basics of Swedish. At the moment, I am working as an academic writer for a university back in El Salvador.

Risk- and environmental studies is a wide, multidisciplinary discipline focused on analysis, decision making, and transformation processes related to societal risks, environmental issues and contexts.
Research within Risk- and environmental studies revolve around the interactions between individual, society and natural environment and especially on unwanted consequences that can be formulated as environmental problems, societal risks or injustices.

Over the course of several weeks, two researchers from Bangalore, India, have visited the university as part of an ongoing collaboration funded by STINT, the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education.
This is a long-term collaboration, says Sergej Moroz, Associate Professor of Physics. This time, it’s a PhD student, Ankush Chaubey, and his advisor, Subhro Bhattacharjee, who are here for a couple of weeks.

– I am visiting CTF to help run an experiment for a project I have been working on with Anders Gustafsson, Poja Shams and my two advisors Maura L. Scott and Martin Mende. We will be using a scent machine as well as eye tracking technology.

Digital infrastructure has expanded rapidly and become integrated into the fundamental structures of society. Public logistical structures are no exception, with Swedish public transit utilising digital platforms enabled by mobile media for both travel planning and ticket management.
On 8 October the fifth edition of the Karlstad Programming Contest took place. The event is organised by Computer Science at Karlstad University. A record number of teams participated and tried to solve difficult programming tasks.
The Karlstad Programming Contest is a leg of the Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC), which takes place simultaneously at 19 Nordic universities and university colleges.
