CoARA
CoARA, Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment, is an international initiative aimed at developing common guidelines and principles for research assessment.

CoARA was established at the initiative of the European Commission together with Science Europe and the European University Association. The objective is to reform the research assessment system and create an international consensus. The overall aim is to increase the quality and impact of research. More than 700 organisations around the world have joined CoARA, including higher education institutions, authorities, interest organisations and research funders.
CoARA in Sweden
In Sweden, the work with CoARA is conducted within the Swedish national chapter, which unites higher education institutions and research funders. Together, the organisations will implement the CoARA guidelines at the national level. The chapter is led by the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF) and aims to create more inclusive, fair and sustainable ways to assess research.
Five national working groups have been formed within the national chapter, and Karlstad University is part of several of them. The working groups will develop guidelines for a more qualitative assessment of researchers and research at the national level.
National working groups:
2. Good practice in the assessment of researchers, PhD programmes and career paths
3. Responsible bibliometrics
4. Incentives for open science
5. Merits in relation to collaboration with the surrounding society and utilization of research
