Joann Peck Visiting Professor

Joann Peck has been appointed Visiting Professor at CTF. The Visiting professorship is funded by Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander Foundation for Media Research, which provide grants to cover the cost of a visiting professor at the CTF for a month during the next three years. - I am so excited to be invited as a Visiting professor at CTF and Karlstad University. I have been fortunate to work with Anders Gustafsson at CTF on several projects in various retail settings.

Making a Difference with ACR

"Making a Difference" was the theme of the Association for Consumer Research North American Conference that was held October 3-6 in Chicago, USA. The conference had about 1500 participants, including several world-leading researcher in consumer behavior. CTF was represented by researchers Anders Gustafsson and Tobias Otterbring. Professor Anders Gustafsson and PhD Student Tobias Otterbring presented two studies.

The Christmas and New Year Holidays are approaching and we have a successful, but also challenging year behind us. Now, we look forward to a new eventful and hopefully less pandemic-affected year. We had a great start in 2020 with a Phd defence in business administration, we welcomed several new doctoral students and senior lecturers, and started several new research initiatives.

We invite representatives from the public and private sectors and academia to focus on how to solve some of our most important societal challenges. This is part of the examination task for the students on the course Advanced service management at the Karlstad Business school – and a way to use research methods in teaching. It was the second year that the students got to work with content and modeling of posters, which were then exhibited in the Business school building, house 11.

Annika Rudman was born and raised in Borås, but has family ties to Värmland as her father and grandparents come from Höljes in northern Värmland. She has a law degree and a master’s degree in human rights from Lund University. After completing her studies in Lund, she moved to Gothenburg where she completed her PhD at the School of Global Studies with a thesis on women’s property rights in southern Africa.

The service research community received excellent news for its journals from the 2017 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) by Clarivate Analytics. All seven service research journals covered in Web of Science have increased their impact factors from the previous year. Especially notable is the increase of Journal of Service Research’s impact factor from 2.463 to 6.847.
