With the current growth in user demand, future wireless access networks will have to offer capacity, which is 500-1000 times larger than todays 3G networks. Since the capacity increase through advanced physical layer techniques is limited, one promising technique to increase capacity is to shrink cell sizes, also using mmWave technologies (e.g. in 60 GHz range).
The online course "Servitization" will start in January 2019, and is now open for application until October 15th, 2018. Servitization, also called service infusion or service-product systems, is a highly important issue for many manufacturing companies around the world.

Two projects led by researchers at Karlstad University have through MIRAI been granted seed funding, which will provide our researchers with opportunities for international collaboration and increased mobility.
MIRAI, with support from STINT, announced funding to support research collaborations between the member universities in Japan and Sweden. The aim is to develop new and existing collaborations through innovative projects.

The International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design (IJISMD) publishes original research and practical results on the advances in system analysis and design.
PhD candidate Sanna Ketonen-Oksi from Tampere University of Technology will be visiting CTF between December 2-9. She is interested on how CTF researches have approached the service based thinking and B2B value creation related research.
Sanna Ketonen-Oksi is s a 3rd year PhD candidate in Business and Technology Management at Tampere University of Technology.
DiVA stands for "Digitala vetenskapliga arkivet" (Academic Archive Online) and is an electronic publishing system for research publications and student theses.

U-PrIM (Usable Privacy-enhancing Identity Management for smart applications) is a research project involving the departments of Computer Science, Information Systems and Psychology at Karlstad University (KaU), in collaboration with industry partners Nordea Bank in Denmark and Gemalto in Sweden.
The purpose of the project is to find ways of using future mobile technologies that are secure, privacy-friendly and easy to use.
Choral singing is a geographically widespread phenomenon in Sweden. Despite this, it has received relatively limited attention in research. Until now. Per Göransson, who recently completed his PhD in Human Geography at Karlstad University, has done research on the subject.
Choirs have been a popular cultural activity for a long time in Sweden.

Karlstad Lean Factory® (KLF) is a unique flexible full scale training environment that resembles an industrial factory. It was built with support from the European Regional Development Fund and from Region Värmland (Sweden).
Originally designed and built for Lean Production training of industrial professionals, it is also used in research, education of university students, and as a catalyst for production innovation.
Nearly 1 in 5 PhD students at Karlstad University experience enough stress to adversely affect their mental well-being. This is revealed in a survey by the Graduate Student Association (GSA).
– The HR office is currently working on an action plan, says Patrik Larsson, pro-vice-chancellor and chair of the Health and Safety Committee.
The survey was conducted in May and June and presented in a report in November.
