Step 2: Nominations, prizes and awards
The internal process for nominating researchers for prizes, programmes, and scholarships is handled by the Grants and Innovation Office. Invitations to Karlstad University to submit nominations are received by the Registrar, and the Grants and Innovation Office then sends details of these opportunities to the Deans, who circulate them within their faculties.

Unless otherwise stated, staff should submit their declarations of interest to the Grants and Innovation Office at least one month before the deadline of the call.
A declaration of interest must consist of:
- CV of the nominee’s
- a summary (one A4 page) of their research
- a motivation of the value which participation in the scheme would bring to Karlstad University.
After deadline
After the deadline has passed, the Grants and Innovation Office will contact the Deans to inform them of the declarations of interest received, and decisions are made by the Vice-Chancellor and the Deans as to which researchers can be put forward. Some applications will require sign-off and a letter of support from the Vice-Chancellor, and this process is managed by the Grants and Innovation Office. It remains the responsibility of the nominee to ensure that they meet the criteria of the call, that they follow Karlstad University internal procedures, and that they submit all the necessary documentation on time.
