The fall semester 2020 can start with campus teaching for new students on programs, has the Vice Chancellor Johan Sterte decided. Elements that are crucial for student progression and must be implemented on campus, will also be prioritized.
But the start this fall will not be quite as usual.
A delegation from CNDS recently met with researchers from the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) at Tokohu University to discuss directions for future collaborations.
The online course "Servitization" will start in January 2019, and is now open for application until October 15th, 2018. Servitization, also called service infusion or service-product systems, is a highly important issue for many manufacturing companies around the world.
On May 20-22, the conference re: publica 2021 will broadcast live from Berlin. The programme covers a broad range of topics, from misinformation and false journalism to climate issues.
Malin Thorsén, CEO and founder of Bright Planet AB, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Advisory board at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University.

Karlstad University will continue to train principals on behalf of the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket). The new assignment runs for six years starting in 2027.
Julia Dicenta, PhD student at the University of Hohenheim in Germany, has been visiting CTF for five weeks to meet with the researchers and to work on a joint project.
Hello Julia, can you tell us about your research?
– My research is in service design and focuses on integrating customers in developing services.
In the project “AI-robotar i besöksnäringen: En framtid med nya kollegor” (AI robots in the tourism industry: a future with new colleagues), researchers from Karlstad Business School and the Service Research Center (CTF) are looking at how employees in the tourism industry are affected by having AI robots as colleagues.

– My research areas include value co-creation, social networking, service innovation, and knowledge management within the service sector specifically in tourism.

- The Business School and Karlstad University's international office participated in the conference together with 7,300 representatives from universities around the world.
- This year's theme was "En Route". From Sweden, nine other universities from all over the country participated to market Sweden as a study destination.

U-PrIM (Usable Privacy-enhancing Identity Management for smart applications) is a research project involving the departments of Computer Science, Information Systems and Psychology at Karlstad University (KaU), in collaboration with industry partners Nordea Bank in Denmark and Gemalto in Sweden.
The purpose of the project is to find ways of using future mobile technologies that are secure, privacy-friendly and easy to use.
How will our actions today affect future generations? What would the effect be if we looked not just 50 or 100, but millions of years ahead? And what role does history play in creating a sustainable future?

With the current growth in user demand, future wireless access networks will have to offer capacity, which is 500-1000 times larger than todays 3G networks. Since the capacity increase through advanced physical layer techniques is limited, one promising technique to increase capacity is to shrink cell sizes, also using mmWave technologies (e.g. in 60 GHz range).
In Brazil, 63% of the population receives primary health care at home, and the introduction of digital aids has revolutionized healthcare. Forms that were usually completed by hand can now be easily filled out using a mobile application. At the same time, there are requirements that patient data must be processed securely.
