Karlstad University is granted SEK 200,000 for a project supporting Ukraine
2026-01-22The Swedish Institute has granted funding for an educational package focused on inclusive vocational training for people with disabilities in Ukraine.
– We aim to formalize the collaboration between Karlstad University and NTU, the National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, says Jesper Haglund, Senior Lecturer in Physics Education. The need to develop inclusive vocational education for people with disabilities has been identified. Karlstad University has expertise in vocational education, mechanical engineering, and plastic injection molding. Ukrainian stakeholders in the project include non-governmental organizations and industries that may serve as future employers for participating students.
The project will consist of hybrid coordination meetings, exchange workshops with Swedish experts, a joint needs analysis, course development adapted for people with disabilities, and a concluding webinar with key stakeholders. The structure allows for flexibility in light of the challenges posed by the war, through the use of digital platforms.
The Swedish Institute is a government agency that funds collaborations between Swedish and Ukrainian organizations and individuals. Through on‑site projects and educational initiatives, we contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction and EU integration while also strengthening resilience in both Ukraine and Sweden.
