Den olycksaliga idén från att vår disciplin skulle heta företagsekonomi kom från ett fåtal personer verksamma vid den då i akademiska sammanhang mycket perifera Handelshögskolan i Stockholm 1932. När ämnet skulle introduceras på universiteten på femtiotalet krävde ansvariga ett byte till ett akademiskt mer passande namn men i stället sköts introduktionen upp.
ITQ – the network for girls studying IT at universities and practitioners in business, celebrated 10 years with cake, guest lectures, and not least mingle and networking. The guest was Siduri Poli, the digital inspirer of 2017, who told of her interest for technology as a tool for change.
Present were also current IT students, high school students from Fria Läroverken as well as professionals from CGI, Ibiz solutions, Municipality of Karlstad, Netgain, Sogeti and ÅF.

Martin Biörklund, what made you choose the Law Programme at Karlstad Business School?
- I was born and raised in Karlstad. When I moved back after studying in Gothenburg, I decided that I wanted to become a lawyer and, by chance, Karlstad University had just established its own law programme.
What were your expectations for the degree programme – and did it live up to your expectations?
- When I was in Gothenburg, I studied the first year of a programme in engineering at Chalmers.
A degree can be described as proof that you, through your studies, have acquired a certain level of knowledge. When you have completed your studies, you have to apply for your degree certificate.
Your degree certificate details which type of degree you have been awarded, the specific courses included in your degree, the grade you achieved for each course and the dates courses were completed. The degree certificate is in both Swedish and English.
On December 9-13, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University will host a multi-disciplinary seminar series consisting of five talks on Service System Transformation, in which researchers from different perspectives and approaches within service research will illuminate the research area.
The seminars will focus on global societal challenges and how transformation within social systems works.

The theme of the 2023 Academic Celebration was passion, which was evident in both the morning event at Karlstad CCC and the afternoon ceremony in Aula Magna.
The Academic Celebration on Friday 20 October started at Karlstad CCC where five new professors presented their research in front of a full house in the hall Lerinsalen. After the short presentations, the moderator, Jan van Stam, professor of physical chemistry, held a talk on passion, this year’s theme.

The 6G-PATH (6G-Pilots and Trials Through Europe) project at Karlstad University has entered a new phase where the technology is being tested in practice.
An applicant may in some cases be admitted to a later stage of a programme. This is possible for the second semester and onward and only if there is a vacancy in the current semester.
In order to be admitted to a later stage of a programme, it is required that applicants meet the requirements for the current programme and have completed courses corresponding to the programme's previous semesters.

Olga Novoselskaya is a senior lecturer at the Informatics and Web-Design Department.

Solar Värmland är ett projekt som drivs av kiselsolcellsforskargruppen vid Karlstads universitet. I forskningsprojektet ingår forskning kring mer effektiva kiselsolceller, nätverkande och studier av företag i regionen som arbetar med solenergi samt utveckling av nya produkter och tjänster kopplat till solenergi.

The article “Wizard of Oz in the Evolving Map of Design Research: Trying to Frame GUI Interaction Interview” by John Sören Pettersson, Malin Wik and Henrik Andersson presents and discusses GUI-ii based on Elisabeth Zanders four cardinal dimensions used to frame design practice and design research.
Many of the library's full text databases and articles, reports, etc from most of the publishers we work with are included in the search service OneSearch. Unfortunately some resources, especially Swedish ones, are not included in OneSearch.
The total number of programme applicants has increased by eight per cent for the autumn semester 2024. There is also a nine per cent increase in first choice applicants.
The Behavioural Science Programme is among the top ten degree programmes at Karlstad University, which is a newly established programme at the university. The programme attracted 873 applicants, of which 116 are first choice applicants.
– It’s very exciting that there’s such a big interest.
Marie Karlsson Tuula was born in 1961 and grew up in Malmö. When she was twenty she moved to Stockholm to study. She was accepted to law school in 1983 and completed her Bachelor degree in 1987.
In addition to law, Marie Karlsson Tuula took a number of courses in European processes, business economics and criminology, and completed her apprenticeship at the then Mölndal District Court.
If you choose to drop out of your studies, it is important that you notify the university. You also have the right to apply for leave from studies.
EARLY NON-COMPLETION – COURSE
If you choose to terminate your studies within three weeks after the course has started it counts as early non-completion.
