Björn Smith, tell us about your background
- I spent the most recent years completing a degree in primary education, school years 4–6. I have also been lecturing at Karlstad University - mainly administrative law and local government law as well as jurisprudence and EU law to some extent. I really enjoyed working as a teacher and learned a lot.

AT-LAB is an additive manufacturing laboratory supported by the EU grant via Tillväxtverket together with Region Värmland and Karlstad University. The laboratory is working close to regional industries, SMEs, cluster organization IUC Stål och verkstad. It is a part of Academi of Smart Specialization at Karlstad University.

We are happy to welcome Jasenko Arsenovic, new Ph. D student in Business Administration to CTF. He will conduct his doctoral studies at CTF and is also linked to MIT, the Swedish Research School of Management and IT.
Jasenko Arsenovic has a Master’s of Science in Business and Economics from Linnaeus Univeristy and a Master´s degree in Informatics from IT, Management and Innovation program at Jönköping International Business School.

The goal of this project is to initiate and develop a research collaboration and an exchange program between the Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica at Università di Napoli, the Network Research Lab at UCLA, USA and the Department of Computer Science at Karlstads Universitet, Sweden.

Media and Communication Studies arranges journalism seminars each term with funding from the Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander foundation for media research.
We invite interesting guests to the journalism seminar to lecture on, debate, and discuss various topics and themes.
Jörg Lenhard, a postdoctoral research fellow in computer science, participated in the lecture series “Möt en forksare”. He talked about one of the meeting points between the fields of software engineering and biology: software evolution.
During his lecture Jörg Lenhard described how and why software engineering researchers apply the term evolution and related biological concepts and what researchers hope to gain this way.

For the second year running, Computer Science at Karlstad University organized a workshop for external input on the research environment. Computer Science staff presented the research environment to an International Advisory Board (IAB) that gave feedback on the development of the research group.
In 2014, Computer Science was established as one of the two excellent research groups at Karlstad University.

Civics is a multidisciplinary subject which draws on several disciplines, above all political science, sociology, economics and law. At Karlstad University you can study to be an upper secondary teacher in civics.
The subject itself builds on the idea that the content of these disciplines can be transformed and adapted through the subject civics in such a way that it is made available to you as a future civics teacher.
