ITQ – the network for girls studying IT at universities and practitioners in business, celebrated 10 years with cake, guest lectures, and not least mingle and networking. The guest was Siduri Poli, the digital inspirer of 2017, who told of her interest for technology as a tool for change.
Present were also current IT students, high school students from Fria Läroverken as well as professionals from CGI, Ibiz solutions, Municipality of Karlstad, Netgain, Sogeti and ÅF.

Martin Biörklund, what made you choose the Law Programme at Karlstad Business School?
- I was born and raised in Karlstad. When I moved back after studying in Gothenburg, I decided that I wanted to become a lawyer and, by chance, Karlstad University had just established its own law programme.
What were your expectations for the degree programme – and did it live up to your expectations?
- When I was in Gothenburg, I studied the first year of a programme in engineering at Chalmers.

The total number of programme applicants has increased by eight per cent for the autumn semester 2024. There is also a nine per cent increase in first choice applicants.
The Behavioural Science Programme is among the top ten degree programmes at Karlstad University, which is a newly established programme at the university. The programme attracted 873 applicants, of which 116 are first choice applicants.

Marie Karlsson Tuula was born in 1961 and grew up in Malmö. When she was twenty she moved to Stockholm to study. She was accepted to law school in 1983 and completed her Bachelor degree in 1987.
In addition to law, Marie Karlsson Tuula took a number of courses in European processes, business economics and criminology, and completed her apprenticeship at the then Mölndal District Court.
Philemon Hahn played both drums and violin as a child at the cultural school in Simrishamn. However, his interest in the violin was greater and grew stronger over time.
The Centre for Language and Literature Education (CSL) is a multidisciplinary research environment in which researchers and teachers from different subjects cooperate on subject-specific education research and development work. CSL researchers are actively engaged in different research groups at Karlstad University as well as in national, Nordic and international networks.

The European Commission has granted Karlstad University the ECHE accreditation (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) until the academic year 2027.
ECHE can be described as a driver’s licence for institutions of higher education in Europe to cooperate with possible financial support from the EU. The accreditation replaces the previous ECHE-accreditation (2014-2020) .
Being awarded the ECHE means that Karlstad University meets the EU’s quality criteria.

As part of Erasmus+, Kerstin Siakas, professor at the Alexander Institute of Technology, Thessaloniki, Greece, visited the department of information systems in 20-24 April.
During her visit, Prof. Siakas participated in a number of course-related activities such as Bachelor thesis supervision and gave a lecture to students in the courses Business Systems II: Development models and Business by Web and Web Analytics.
Researchers from Austria, Denmark, England, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland were visiting Karlstad on May 22-26 to attend the sixth annual meeting of the European Rasch Training Group (ERTG).
