The goal in Agenda 2030 is for global food waste in the entire food chain to be reduced by half. Researchers at CTF are working to develop, communicate and disseminate new knowledge that can support producers, service providers and consumers in this effort.
Fredrik Wikström and Helén Williams have done research for many years on issues related to the environment and sustainability, and the role of packaging in reducing food waste.
The alumnus of the month is a teacher, who decided to build his career on two legs: music and history. He thinks that the principle of mastering one instrument is a universal tool applicable to just about anything.

In order to ensure that our educations are well adapted to the needs of the labor market, we regularly follow up the alumni who have graduated from the School of Business and Economics.
During the years 2017-2023, 3065 people graduated from the Business School. Of these, 39 percent were men and 61 percent women.
CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, seeks a Senior Lecturer in Business Administration with specialisation in marketing to further develop and strengthen CTF's research in the field.
The appointed senior lecturer will be connected to ongoing research at CTF. The position includes a research component, at least 50% of full-time, that will be financed through one of the externally funded research projects conducted at CTF.

Plain Japanese to promote health among people from overseas
There are 2.9 million registered foreign nationals in Japan as of June 2021, among which 200 thousand people (7 %) are aged 65 or older.
Dewatering during paper manufacturing is a highly energy-intensive process. New research shows how the process can be made more efficient concerning energy consumption.
– In my research, I have looked at the manufacturing of grease-proof paper, says Björn Öman, an industrial doctoral student in chemical engineering. Grease-proof paper is extremely compact, enough to act as a barrier to fat, grease, and water.

We offer several educational programs including a four-year Programme in Business and Economics. Our research is at a high international level and a large part of the research is conducted at CTF, Service Research Center, one of the University’s Excellence Centers. We actively collaborate with the surrounding community, both in the public and private sectors.
Business administration is the science of companies’ and organizations’ conditions, terms and operations.
Per Kristensson and Lars Witell, together with Mohamed Zaki from the Cambridge Service Alliance, are the editors of the new book "Handbook of Service Experience", which provides a comprehensive perspective on service experiences in business contexts.
The usability lab is equipped with eye-tracking technology, specially useful to carry out usability testing of webpages and graphical elements of interactive programs. It is also possible to record where a person looks at films and video commercials.
The Eye-tracker monitor available in the lab is manufactured by Tobii Technology, world leader in eye-tracking and eye-control solutions.Tobii Pro Lab is the software system used for controlling the eye-tracking monitor.
