Maria Colurcio, assistant professor of Management and Marketing at University of Magna Graecia di Catanzaro-Italy, is visiting us this week to meet with her collegua Angela Caridá and professor Bo Edvardsson.
Maria Colurcio obtained her PhD in Business and Administration in 2001. Her main areas of interest are service innovation, quality, and web marketing.

We welcome visual and literary artists who are working on migration, ageing and related issues with reference to Sweden and Japan and who are interested in featuring their work on our website.
Our alumna Julia Bengtson from Borlänge has an extensive music education, having studied at Musikkonservatoriet Falun, exchange studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and not least a degree in Music Production at Ingesund School of Music. Currently, she is studying music at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg.

IMTRIS is a cross-border project for the processing of wood raw materials, which is a central resource for the regional bioeconomy. Joint R & D efforts contribute to sustainable growth in the border region.

The project was executed 2015-2017, while Brittany Evans worked as a postdoc at Radboud University in Nijmegen.

- I worked as a postdoc at the Centre for Industrial Mathematics at the University of Bremen in Germany.
How did you come in contact with mathematics at Karlstad University?
- Adrian Muntean was one of my PhD supervisors.

It might seem like a problem that would be quite easy to solve, food waste. It easily resonates, and most people and organizations would probably agree with a “let’s stop throwing away food” mission. It is like my co-author puts it; No one wakes up in the morning thinking “today, I’m going to waste food”.

The Center for Gender Studies, Karlstad University and the research network “Ongoing Legacies of Discrimination and Violence Network” (OLIRN) at the Fay Gale Centre for Gender Studies, University of Adelaide, are organizing a workshop on the legacies of social injustices.
We are currently observing an increasingly polarised political landscape in the Western world and beyond.
ITQ – the network for girls studying IT at universities and practitioners in business, celebrated 10 years with cake, guest lectures, and not least mingle and networking. The guest was Siduri Poli, the digital inspirer of 2017, who told of her interest for technology as a tool for change.
Present were also current IT students, high school students from Fria Läroverken as well as professionals from CGI, Ibiz solutions, Municipality of Karlstad, Netgain, Sogeti and ÅF.
New societal demands. The IT society needs educated people. IT is used in the most diverse contexts to facilitate and enrich peoples lives at work and leisure.
Good IT solutions require professional developers in a number of fields such as web and multimedia, networks, programming and project management.
New technology is something threatening and often dangerous. At least that is the picture presented if you read modern children’s literature.
– This is contradictory. Technology is becoming an increasingly integral part of everyday life, including in literature. But at the same time, there is often a concern or a hidden threat in technology, says Jakob Olsson, researcher at Karlstad University.
Jakob Olsson has studied 249 books, published between 2000 and 2019.
