G-TEST – NATIONAL TEST
For instructions on G-tests, use the following links:
- G1 – Vocal and instrumental skills (you record videos)
- G2 – Music theory (you perform the test on campus at Ingesund School of Music)
- G3 – Interplay, aural skills and musical leadership (you perform the test on campus at Ingesund School of Music)
The G-test is a national test used at four Swedish schools of music:
- Royal College of Music in Stockholm
- The School of Music, Theatre and Art at Örebro University
- Ingesund School of Music
- Malmö Academy of Music
You only take the G-test once and at the school of music that you have ranked as your first choice in your application at universityadmissions.se. The result will apply at all four schools of music listed above. If you passed a G-test in 2022, it can count towards 2023. G-tests completed in Gothenburg will not count towards the admission 2023.
L-TEST – LOCAL TEST
In addition to performing a G-test, all applicants to the Music Teacher Programme at Ingesund School of Music need to perform a test playing their main instrument. These local main instrument tests at Ingesund are referred to as L-tests, and you choose one of the following genres: Folk Music, Classical Music, or Jazz (previously called Rhythmic and Improvised Music). L-tests are performed remotely through recorded video clips and the test result only applies at Ingesund School of Music.
Use the following links to learn more about our genre specialisations and L-tests:

- Jazz (previously called Rhythmic and Improvised Music)
Do you have more than one main instrument or do you wish to apply to more than one specialisation/genre? Send an email to kerstin.ekling@kau.se and we will help you with your application and schedule your tests.
INVITATION TO TEST
An invitation to take the tests will be sent to the email address that you enter in your application at universityadmissions.se. It is important that you check your emails regularly (as well as your spam folder) to minimise the risk of missing out on important information.
GOOD TO KNOW
You are expected to be well prepared for all of the test (including those submitted via video), and to present valid ID.
Note that the five higher education institutions (HEI) in Gothenburg, Ingesund, Malmö, Stockholm and Örebro collaborate but operate independently. This means that the test information and process may differ. Similar study programmes may also have different names and differ in a number of ways. It is therefore important that you gather all the information you need via each individual HEI.
All entrance test results will be announced by 19 May at the latest and the official admission decision will be sent 12 July 2023.
