Welcome to an introduction to NVivo, a software for qualitative data analysis. The introduction will be divided into two sessions.

Research at Ingesund School of Music concentrates on music pedagogy and teaching methodology. The research environment is multidisciplinary and involves teachers and researchers in research and development work.
At Ingesund School of Music, we train music teachers, professional musicians and music producers for careers in cultural life, education and lifelong training.
Tomas Gustavsson, lecturer and doctoral student in Project Management at Karlstad Business School, was elected as a member of the Swedish Project Academy on 20 April. This makes him the second representative of Karlstad Business School next to Lennart Ljung, senior lecturer in Project Management, who is already a member.
“It is a great honour and recognition of my research in agile project management”, says Tomas Gustavsson.
“In our lives, both individually and as a group, we spend a lot of time focusing on how to minimise the risk of, for example, catastrophes, accidents and poverty. We constantly compare different risks and we assess what risks are acceptable to expose ourselves and others to.”
Finn Nilson was born in Skåne, but he grew up in Great Britain.
Prof. Kai Holzweissig presents his thoughts on this subject from a paper by Gregor and Hevner. He will also present some of his research on social software and management of formal new product development processes.
Kai is professor at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart (Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Stuttgart in Germany and DHBW Stuttgart for short) and visited us during a couple of days in May to discuss future Erasmus exchanges.

Henrik, you recently began your doctoral studies in Geomedia at Karlstad University. Tell us about your background.
- I have a Master’s in cultural studies from the University of Gothenburg and an interdisciplinary background in humanities with a great interest in culture and social policy issues. I’m interested in the way geomedia affects society and culture, and the spatial aspects of media.
Tell us about your research project
- The idea is to focus on digital exclusion in public transport.

TheComputer Science department at Karlstads university co-organizes the SAEroCon workshop at the European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA) in Cavtat, Croatia, 7 – 11 september.
Software is often developed and maintained for a very long time. The more complex a software system is and the longer it evolves, the more likely the structure and behavior of the system will diverge from the originally intended design.

André Jansson has been a researcher at Karlstad University for the past 15 years. In addition to being a researcher, he is the head of subject in media and communication studies, one of the Nordic countries highest ranking research institutions in the field.
The Centre for Research on Sustainable Societal Transformation (CRS) will have a new director as of 1 April. Moa Tunström, senior lecturer in Human Geography, will take over when Margareta Dahlström steps down ahead of her upcoming retirement.
Moa Tunström defended her doctoral thesis at Örebro University in 2009, “In search of the good city. Constructions of ideals and problems in Swedish urban planning discussion” in the discipline of Human Geography.

From regional development to region building and now social change. The Centre for Region Building (CRS) changes name to Centre for Research on Sustainable Societal Transformation and celebrates the ten-year anniversary of its graduate school. Research fields change with social change. CRS has developed a new research programme and a name change was called for.
