» Open Access deals with publishers
Karlstad University has entered a re-negotiated agreement with the publisher Wiley for 2025. The agreement enables KaU researchers to publish open access free of charge in a large selection of Wiley journals.
How does it work?As submitting corresponding author you can publish open access with some 1 370 hybrid journals and more than 300 fully open access journals.
CSR will arrange a panel on the fifth edition of the Northern European Conference on Emergency and Disaster Studies, hosted by Mid Sweden University and organized by the Risk and Crisis Research Centre 10–12 March in Östersund, Sweden.

David Johansson successfully defended his thesis on tort and intellectual property law at Uppsala University in 2020. Today, he works as senior lecturer at Karlstad Business School.

The lab is equiped with different computing systems that allow the deployment of co-design ession on distance (GUI-ii) and the Wizard-of-Oz usability method inside the laboratory rooms and also in portable settings.

The Packaging Saves Food Research Group was established in Karlstad, Sweden in April 2016. The members are a dedicated and committed group of academics and scientists from around the globe that want to change the conversation about packaging.

- That’s right! I attended the international health psychology conference “36th Annual Conference of the European Health Psychology Society”, which was held at the end of August. The annual conference is organised by the European Health Psychology Society, which aims to promote research and application of health psychology.

The PhD Mini Conference (doctoral colloquium) will be held at Karlstad University on October 22-23, 2024, alongside the main FEKIS conference. The PhD Mini Conference starts on October 22 after lunch (following the FEKIS PhD course in the morning), and will be held in a constructive, collaborative, inclusive and friendly environment.
The PhD Mini Conference will commence with a keynote of an internationally recognised research leader.
The issue of procurement is important in terms of making space for new welfare innovations. In a workshop at Karlstad University, DigitalWell process managers inspired students to procure digital solutions for a healthier working environment.
The workshop, a component included in the course Acquisition of Information Systems, was offered to students in the IT Design and Web Developer programmes.
Research on functional barriers and barrier coatings is increasing due to its increasing demands in the packaging industry. Research on phenomena on the surfaces of advanced materials, which changes surface properties and thus how they can interact in various important processes such as solarcells, batteries, catalysis and other chemical and biochemical reaktions. Research on nanomaterials, their properties and synthesis, how they can be changed in shape and size, and how they can be used in different technical applications.
In October, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, arranged a two day seminar on Service-Dominant Logic. The program was formed around Stephen L Vargo, one of the researchers behind the marketing theory, and one of the world’s top ranked researchers.

On 8 March, Compare arranged a seminar on embedded systems at which Martin Blom, senior lecturer in computer science at Karlstad University, among others, gave a lecture on ”Robustness and efficiency testability in embedded systems: A systematic literature study”.
In the past year, a new network for actors working on or interested in embedded systems has emerged in Värmland and neighbouring areas.
