Second-year students in the bachelor's program in computer engineering and fourth-year students in the master's program in computer engineering will be offered a personal mentor from the industry. The goal is for mentors to provide valuable insights, help students build networks, and ease the transition from studies to professional life.

On September 13, the first DAMI workshop was held at Karlstad University. The aim for the workshop was to launch the DAMI working groups and disseminate the center and its activities to a wider audience.

Today we talk with Andreas Henriksson, who is the co-convenor of the Relationer och Vardagsinteraktion (REVA) research group at the Sociology Department here in Karlstad University. Andreas will talk about his work on intimacy and everyday life, including research into dancing and loneliness. So, let’s start with a brief introduction.
A study done at Karlstad University shows that seven products account for almost half the fruit and vegetables wasted by retailers. Potentially, food waste can be drastically limited by focusing on these products.

The project Rethink:Kau, Karlstad University finds, develops and test digital tools which gives students better opportunities to complete their education.
The introduction of new technologies such as machine learning and big data analytics requires new skills in employees and often new ways of working. It also enables new business models, such as MaaS (Manufacturing as a Service), which builds on lean principles and the adaptive smart factories of the future.
At Karlstad University there is a project called The Common Space. The project is funded by the Swedish heritage board. The project started in 2017 and is scheduled to run over three years.
The purpose is to explore ways that heritage can be incorporated into history education and used to address processes of migration and cultural encounters. School history tends to construct narratives around distinct ethnic groups and nation-states.

Anna-Lena Almqvist was born and raised in Umeå, where she also completed her PhD following a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Stockholm University.
Her doctoral thesis focused on how families combine work and childcare in five European countries. She recently started her employment at Karlstad University.

Karlstad Business School is renowned for its education and research in agile projects. John Johansson, lecturer in project management at Karlstad Business School, has trained staff at Uddeholm in agile projects and it has started to yield results.
- We want to be as LEAN as possible and be smart about our resources, says Anna Hedberg, project manager at Uddeholm. We cannot promise materials development on demand and on schedule.
Many of the library's full text databases and articles, reports, etc from most of the publishers we work with are included in the search service OneSearch. Unfortunately some resources, especially Swedish ones, are not included in OneSearch.

Metpex is a research project funded in the context of the 7th Framework Programme of the EU, aiming to develop and evaluate a standardised tool to measure passenger experience across whole journeys.
Each semester, we organise an employee induction programme, called “Welcome Day” for new employees, providing information related to your position at the university as well as information on university operations.
The programme includes a number of areas of interest, such as staffing policies, work environment, co-workership, and organisation.
