The Department of Health Sciences comprises the disciplines Public Health Science, Nursing, and Oral Health.
Objectives
The Department of Health Sciences conducts high quality education and research in a health promoting working environment for students as well as staff.
High employee proactivity can, for example, compensate for delays in customer service situations and thereby mitigate the negative effects of waiting.
Employee proactivity has been discussed as a key factor in company success and organisational performance.

Solar Värmland är ett projekt som drivs av kiselsolcellsforskargruppen vid Karlstads universitet. I forskningsprojektet ingår forskning kring mer effektiva kiselsolceller, nätverkande och studier av företag i regionen som arbetar med solenergi samt utveckling av nya produkter och tjänster kopplat till solenergi.
Forskningsgruppen fokuserar på multi- och monokristallina kiselsolceller, moduler och deras tillämpningar.
Våldsamma fantasier tar sig an den kulturella ambivalens som omgärdar fiktivt våld. Boken rymmer fem fallstudier som resonerar kring fiktionsvåldets plats i samtidskulturen.
The teacher and musician Georg Gulyás teaches guitar, chamber music, and guitar methodology at the Ingesund School of Music. After his promotion, he can now call himself a professor.
Georg Gulyás was born in Säffle, and his Hungarian father worked at the city’s library while his Finnish mother worked with the church’s children’s hours. His basic qualification in classical guitar is from the Malmö Academy of Music.

Majken Jul Sørensen, senior lecturer of sociology, has recently been appointed Director of the popular CRS graduate school together with Marie Nordfeldt, professor of social work.
Majken Jul Sørensen's research deals primarily with non-violent resistance and grassroot movements. Her interest in non-violent social movements, conflict change, as well as humour and political activism, centres, among other things, on human capacity to effect change from the bottom-up.

Global Mobilities (GM) is a crucial theme for Karlstad Centre for Gender Research (CGF) in recognition of this cutting edge aspect of contemporary research in gender studies. GM Is a central feature of modernity. Modernity has produced ever increasing movements of people, knowledge, technology, value systems and cultural and other material objects. This aspect of modernity produces both reveals and produces new tensions in power relations across the global and within national contexts.
We work within the paradigm of a circular forest based bioeconomy using a system analysis perspective.
The research group Water-Energy Nexus at Karlstad University contribute to a circular forest based bioeconomy by upgrading low-value sidestreams to raw materials, which are then used for production of useful materials and energy carriers.

The other weekend, the Ingesund School of Music celebrated its 100th anniversary for two days. They hosted a grand concert featuring several guest artists, as well as Ingesund's large symphony orchestra and soloists.

Kristina Palm is from Grödinge, 30 kilometres south of Stockholm. She is an electrical engineer, specialised in quality technology. She graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH. She is has a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Science and is a docent at KTH. Here doctoral thesis examined work engagement.
Nordidactica - Journal of Humanities and Social Science Education is a Nordic subject didactic journal with the aim to be a venue for research relevant to school, teacher education and to academy.
