CRE8® is a fast-paced method for competing in creative problem solving, with an emphasis on innovation. Three to four interdisciplinary teams of students test their problem-solving abilities and pitched their solutions to a jury. The teams are given real cases from researchers, companies and the public sector.

International exchange is promoted at all levels of education and research. The international experience is of great importance to the development of new knowledge and to promote student mobility on a global market.
At the higher seminar, the political scientists at Karlstad university discuss various research-related topics found within our discipline. The seminar series includes presentations by both Swedish and international scholars. We also discuss books and research papers. The seminar is open to all interested researchers and students.
Corrinne Kelley, Ph. D Student at Florida State University, USA, is currently visiting CTF for three weeks to work on a joint project with our researchers Anders Gustafsson and Poja Shams.
– I am visiting CTF to help run an experiment for a project I have been working on with Anders Gustafsson, Poja Shams and my two advisors Maura L. Scott and Martin Mende. We will be using a scent machine as well as eye tracking technology.

Time for a rerun of last year’s outdoor movie success for our students! On 31 August, we move closer to the centre of Karlstad for an open-air film night in the Värmland Museum Park. The film selected by vote on our Facebook page was Grease. All students at Karlstad University are invited to an open-air film night under the stars.

Sustainable development, democracy and equity are topical issues. Students in the social sciences and humanities develop knowledge and skills to deal with such issues and to implement useful ideas.
Such abilities will be even more valued with an increasingly internationalised and borderless world. At the same time local issues grow in importance for the individual, who wants to live, work and exert influence on the local community.

For students of English at Karlstad University, there is the option of doing a semester abroad and having your studies accredited in total or in part towards either English II or English III.

Over two days, the industrial graduate school Exact held its spring meeting, focusing on collaboration and development opportunities as well as career planning for doctoral students.

On September 25, Karlstad University, together with Compare, companies, organizations, and students, gathered for this year’s Digital Competence Network Day (DICOND), with nearly 70 participants.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to meet and network with students in computer science and informatics, with the goal of creating new forms of collaboration and ensuring that the region remains competitive in the labor market.

• Nurul Momen, who received the Best Poster Award at NordSec in Oslo. The title of the poster is “User Perception Analysis for Showing Personal Data Access as Privacy Implication Factor”.
• Dejene Boru Oljira, who received the Best Paper Award at Networks of the Future in Poznan.

There are many things to consider for students, coming to Sweden. This is a checklist to help you remember all the things that need to be done BEFORE arriving in Karlstad.
1. Apply for a residence permitIn addition to a valid passport, non-EU citizens must obtain a residence permit prior to their departure for Sweden.
Project work has been positively booming in recent years. Karlstad Business School now has global classrooms where students have influence over their education.
In 2021, project management is no longer associated exclusively with IT projects where engineers are at the helm. A lot of work is done in project form on a regional, national, and municipal level and the private sector is hungry for well-prepared students.
Practical placements form an important part of the Master of Science in Psychology Programme. Students are out on their practical placements during semester 6 for 14 weeks.
Practical placements are hosted by public or private organisations employing psychologists. All psychology students will be supervised by a licenced psychologist during their practical placements and the university offers practical and pedagogical support to supervisors.
