International exchange is promoted at all levels of education and research. The international experience is of great importance to the development of new knowledge and to promote student mobility on a global market.

The teaching group develops and implements library education for students. The teaching takes place in close collaboration with the teachers and addresses both distance and campus students. The group teaches in information retrieval, source criticism, reference management and copyright.
Imagine if someone would tell you that your child’s wellbeing, quality of life, physical health, and school performance could increase if their car travels were replaced by independent travel. This is a rather daring statement but in fact, research from different countries and continents show that this is actually the case.

Johan Samuelsson grew up on a farm outside of Mariestad in Västergötland. In the mid 1990-s, he graduated with a teacher education degree from Karlstad University with a specialisation in history and religious studies.

We welcome Gabriella Arcese Ph. D in Commodity Science, and Laura Di Pietro Ph. D student in Commodity Science and Quality Management, from Roma Tre University, who are visiting us for the coming three weeks to work with Professor Bo Edvardsson and Ph D Student Kotaiba Aal.

Time for a rerun of last year’s outdoor movie success for our students! On 31 August, we move closer to the centre of Karlstad for an open-air film night in the Värmland Museum Park. The film selected by vote on our Facebook page was Grease. All students at Karlstad University are invited to an open-air film night under the stars.

Place: The Park at the Värmland Museum
Time: Around 20.30.
Sustainable development, democracy and equity are topical issues. Students in the social sciences and humanities develop knowledge and skills to deal with such issues and to implement useful ideas.
Such abilities will be even more valued with an increasingly internationalised and borderless world. At the same time local issues grow in importance for the individual, who wants to live, work and exert influence on the local community.

Renee McDonald has lived most of her life in Texas, United States. She is one of three children of working-class parents. She had a 10-year career as a software and systems developer, attending night classes along the way to work toward a college degree. Realizing she enjoyed the field of psychology, she returned to college full time and then went to graduate school to obtain a PhD in clinical psychology.

There you will find information on the exchange agreements (subject areas, degree levels, language of instruction, etc.) and important information regarding each university, as well as travel reports from previous exchange students.
For students of English at Karlstad University, there is the option of doing a semester abroad and having your studies accredited in total or in part towards either English II or English III.
Two of the universities with which we have exchange programs running are presented below; in both cases, exchanges are available only during the autumn semester. For further alternatives, contact the university's international coordinator or international study adviser.
Several Computer Science researchers and students have received nice awards at conferences during November. Congratulations to:
• Nurul Momen, who received the Best Poster Award at NordSec in Oslo. The title of the poster is “User Perception Analysis for Showing Personal Data Access as Privacy Implication Factor”.
• Dejene Boru Oljira, who received the Best Paper Award at Networks of the Future in Poznan.

Over two days, the industrial graduate school Exact held its spring meeting, focusing on collaboration and development opportunities as well as career planning for doctoral students.
– It has been two days filled with fascinating presentations from our doctoral students and many fruitful discussions about the graduate school’s collaboration and development opportunities, says Jörgen Samuelsson, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Graduate School.

On September 25, Karlstad University, together with Compare, companies, organizations, and students, gathered for this year’s Digital Competence Network Day (DICOND), with nearly 70 participants.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to meet and network with students in computer science and informatics, with the goal of creating new forms of collaboration and ensuring that the region remains competitive in the labor market.

There are many things to consider for incoming students to Sweden. This is a checklist to help you remember all the things that need to be done BEFORE arriving in Karlstad.
1. Apply for a residence permitIn addition to a valid passport, non-EU citizens must obtain a residence permit prior to their departure for Sweden.
Practical placements form an important part of the Master of Science in Psychology Programme. Students are out on their practical placements during semester 6 for 14 weeks.
Practical placements are hosted by public or private organisations employing psychologists. All psychology students will be supervised by a licenced psychologist during their practical placements and the university offers practical and pedagogical support to supervisors.
Project work has been positively booming in recent years. Karlstad Business School now has global classrooms where students have influence over their education.
In 2021, project management is no longer associated exclusively with IT projects where engineers are at the helm. A lot of work is done in project form on a regional, national, and municipal level and the private sector is hungry for well-prepared students.

Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences is one of four partners in the CRE8 Europe project striving to unite students and create value for students, alumni, universities and organisations.
CRE8®Europe in Hammar was set to May 4th - 8th, 2020, at Inland University, Hammar, Norway. Because of COVID-19 we had to re-plan to a digital day.

Every year, the Karlstad business school spring ball is organized for graduate students. Project leader for the spring ball is a graduate students in collaboration with Karlstad business school.
The project group for 2019 year's spring ball: Albert Holmer, William Nygren, Madeleine Ahlberg, Mia Lindqvist, Walter Magnusson och Amanda Hjert.
All doctoral students are appointed at least two supervisors in connection with their admission to the doctoral programme who will provide help and support during the education period up to the thesis defence and graduation.
SUPERVISION
New doctoral students shall be appointed a main supervisor and at least one assistant supervisor and at least one of them must have completed supervisor training.
An online activist with nationalist, extreme right-wing views is currently enrolled in the course Intercultural studies: race and whiteness in Sweden. The person is very active on social media, where he posts derogatory comments about the course, the students in the course and the course director. The university and its management strongly disagree with his actions on social media.
