Cecilia Olsson grew up in Värmlandsnäs, just outside Säffle. She qualified as a nurse at what was then the University College of Health Sciences in Värmland (Hälsohögskolan i Värmland) in 1994, and graduated as a specialist nurse in oncology at Örebro University in 1999. She began working at Karlstad University as a lecturer in 2007 and later completed her PhD with the doctoral thesis Sexuality in Patients Treated for Hematologic Malignancies.

In general, all students wishing to study at Karlstad University must apply online, using the national application database www.universityadmissions.se. However, if you are an exchange student the application process is different.
Karlstad University will only process applications received by the application deadline.
The Swedish spring celebration Valborg is often associated with student culture and alcohol, but this year the celebration will be accompanied by a sober alternative with a focus on health and wellbeing - Kausläppet 2024.

- First of all I want to say that it was a great opportunity for me to meet Stefan Löfven. I presented my current research from my first year of PhD studies at CTF.
Undergraduate students in Statistics can expect a high degree of flexibility. We offer courses at different levels adapted to students’ pre-knowledge.
Flexibility in studying is also offered. Students can take an undergraduate course in Statistics 30 ECTS cr on or off campus, or combine the two, taking some modules on campus and others as distance learning modules.

Networking and being involved in different activities during your studies pay off. This was clear at this years’ IT dinner on 20 September when students met representatives from companies that are part of Snits, a network linking industry and IT students at Karlstad University.
During the introductory presentation, all ten participating companies emphasised that many students get job offers after completing their degree projects.
