Our exchange ambassadors
Exchange ambassadors are students from Karlstad University who have been on an exchange semester and who want to share their experiences and help students who are interested in studying abroad. If you have any questions for them regarding what it is like to go on exchange, you are welcome to contact them. As an incoming exchange student, you are also welcome to contact the ambassadors about coming to Karlstad.

What is it about exchange studies that you would like to recommend?
I see this as a perfect opportunity for those of you who want to develop as a person, dare to challenge yourself and get outside of your comfort zone. Living abroad for a longer period also gives you the opportunity to discover new things that an ordinary "tourist" would never experience.
Describe the best experience you will take with you from your exchange period
I'm so glad I chose to leave despite Covid-19 and the strict restrictions in Rome. Being able to live in Rome without tourists has had its advantages, it has been nice to avoid queuing for several hours to get into the Colosseum or avoid being pushed forward to get a picture of the Fontana di Trevi and it has been a larger community among the exchange students. I even got to practice my Italian which is a plus!
What has your exchange term added to your education academically?
A broader knowledge in marketing and improved my language skills.
As an exchange ambassador, how do you want to support prospective students?
I want to be able to inspire the students to dare to go away and give them tips from my experiences.
What kind of message do you want to give interested students?
Take the chance and go, go, go! It is an incredible experience that will give you memories for life. I am so happy and satisfied with my exchange term and do not regret a second that I chose to leave. Rome has become my second home.

What is it about exchange studies that you would like to recommend?
To gain experience of living in a new country and experience other cultures and that you become a more receptive and more open person to other people and experiences, which was very rewarding. And of course it's super fun!
Describe the best experience you will take with you from your exchange period
That I emotionally went there as a guest / tourist but left as a "resident". That I really got to know the city I lived in and will return there to visit my second home. It's actually an advantage to be in Europe, it's easy to come back!
What has your exchange term added to your education academically?
I studied a subject that I have not studied so much in my regular education, which gave me much more knowledge in it. But apart from that, my language skills in English and Italian have improved.
As an exchange ambassador, how do you want to support prospective students?
To inspire and convey that everything is resolved and that you dare to go away even though it is for a longer period and perhaps far away from your loved ones.
What kind of message do you want to give interested students?
Now you have the chance to find a second home elsewhere in the world, so I really think you should take it! You learn so much while you are away and also realize how adaptable you are. Go if you get the chance !!
