CSR's director Mikael Granberg is co-editor of the book Local Action on Climate Change - Opportunities and constraints, the latest addition to Routledges series on Advances in Climate Change Research. CSR's researchers are co-authors for four of the books chapters. Publishers description There is growing interest in analysing the role and effectiveness of the local scale in responding to the global challenge of climate change.

ECHE charter

The European Commission has granted Karlstad University the ECHE accreditation (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) until the academic year 2027. ECHE can be described as a driver’s licence for institutions of higher education in Europe to cooperate with possible financial support from the EU. The accreditation replaces the previous ECHE-accreditation (2014-2020) . Being awarded the ECHE means that Karlstad University meets the EU’s quality criteria.

The Packaging Saves Food Research Group was established in Karlstad, Sweden in April 2016. The members are a dedicated and committed group of academics and scientists from around the globe that want to change the conversation about packaging. We want to highlight and explore how improvements in the packaging systems can contribute to manage the global food supply.

Researchers Avit Bhowmik and Sol Agin comment on the latest report from The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). For the very first time, IPCC explicitly recognized and emphasized the role of diverse non-state and subnational actors in climate action.
Physics is one of the first research subjects for doctoral studies at Karlstad University. The first dissertation in physics took place in 2012. Since then, about twenty doctors in physics have graduated.

The research group ROSE, Research on Subject-specific Education, is rooted in several academic disciplines specializing in different school subjects. ROSE researchers share a focus on subject-specific education in relation to teaching and learning (what in a European research tradition is termed ‘subject didactics’). ROSE monitors practitioner-relevant issues, such as how teachers and students jointly manage subject matter and teaching contents.

Specfic 2021 takes place on December 1–3 at Karlstad University. The conference features keynotes by Professor Edward James (University College Dublin), Dr. Merja Polvinen (University of Helsinki), and Professor Jonas Linderoth (University of Gothenburg). See the program and a presentation of the keynote speakers below.
CGF has existed as a research group since 2006, but its roots trace back to the early 1990s when it operated under the name Gender Equality Center. Today, CGF is a research center at Karlstad University and is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. We work closely and extensively with the Gender Studies department.

Professor Martin Schreier was appointed Ander Visiting Professor at CTF in December 2017. In the beginning of May he visited CTF to meet with the researchers, and to give a seminar on customer empowerment and crowdsourcing. “I have heard a lot about CTF, and of course I am familiar with the excellent research produced by the group. The first week at CTF made me excited about the coming years.

A global project with the aim to investigate what it means to live well in a world worth living in for all, based on people around the world sharing their thoughts. The project is carried out within the framework of the international research network Pedagogy, Education and Praxis (PEP). Swedish principals contribute their thoughts in the form of short film clips and interviews.

On 3–6 June, over 275 conference participants gathered in Rome to attend QUIS19 – The 19th International Research Symposium on Service Excellence in Management. This international conference, now considered the foremost in service research, has its roots in Karlstad – and began as an idea at the Service Research Center (CTF). “QUIS was born at a time when services were gaining importance but still remained a relatively unexplored research field,” says Per Kristensson.
