CGF has existed as a research group since 2006, but its roots trace back to the early 1990s when it operated under the name Gender Equality Center. Today, CGF is a research center at Karlstad University and is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. We work closely and extensively with the Gender Studies department. The profile areas are open and subject to change in response to current gender studies issues and theories.
The Center for Gender Research is involved in numerous research projects and collaborations in Värmland and around the world. The goal is to disseminate the results of CGF's activities and maintain ongoing dialogues with organizations, politicians, decision-makers, individuals, researchers, and society at large.
CGF regularly hosts seminars where invited guests and researchers from Karlstad University present current research within the field of gender studies. All seminars are conducted in English.
