In order to ensure that our educations are well adapted to the needs of the labor market, we regularly follow up the alumni who have graduated from the School of Business and Economics. During the years 2017-2023, 3065 people graduated from the Business School. Of these, 39 percent were men and 61 percent women.

CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, are expanding their range of flexible courses for professionals. Registration is now open for courses in digitalisation, customer journey and idea management, two of which are offered for the first time. The courses will start at the end of January and registration is open until 18 January. Registration is now open for the first courses of the spring term aimed at working professionals.
Welcome to an open seminar with Professor Manoj Mishra from Banaras Hindu University on the effects of global warming and climate change on India, with a specific focus on food and water security. Professor Manoj Mishra is one of the four guest researchers from India that the Department of Political, Historical, Religious and Cultural Studies is hosting this autumn. He is a professor in Peace and Conflict Studies at Banaras Hindu University.
Nina Lykke has a background in comparative literature, but her main focus has always been gender. She held a position as researcher in gender studies at the University of Southern Denmark from 1981 to 1999, and headed the university’s centre for women and gender studies during this period. She was appointed to the position of docent [associate professor] at the same university in 1992, with a dissertation on feminism and psychoanalysis.

CTF organizes the biennial QUIS symposium on Service Excellence in Management, which attracts leading researchers, business executives, and public sector managers from all over the world. The first QUIS symposium took place in Sweden 1988.

The musician Judith Kleinman will come to the Ingesund Academy of Music at the end of March to teach ergonomics for musicians. Her teaching is based on the Alexander Technique and the visit takes place within the framework of a teacher exchange within Erasmus. Judith Kleinman is a musician who studied at the Guildhall School of Music.

Each year, Karlstad University chooses, after a nomination period, two former students who have used their education inspirationally, have embarked on exiting careers and are good role models for the university’s current students, as Alumni of the Year. The Alumni of the Year for 2017 are Marie Fossum Strannegård and Jörgen Svensson. Marie Fossum Strannegård obtained a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Information Systems from Karlstad University in 1995.

Child and adolescent mental health was the focus of the two-day advisory board meeting when researchers from Australia, England, Canada, Germany and Sweden gathered at Karlstad University at the end of August. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the research programme on the impacts of changed living conditions on child and adolescent mental health that was granted long-term funding from the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare, FORTE (prev
