Her teaching is based on the Alexander Technique and the visit takes place within the framework of a teacher exchange within Erasmus. Each year, Karlstad University chooses, after a nomination period, two former students who have used their education inspirationally, have embarked on exiting careers and are good role models for the university’s current students, as Alumni of the Year. The Alumni of the Year for 2017 are Marie Fossum Strannegård and Jörgen Svensson. Marie Fossum Strannegård obtained a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Information Systems from Karlstad University in 1995.

Marshal at Academic Celebration

Do you want to participate in an honorable assignment? Every autumn, Karlstad University conducts Academic Celebration. At the ceremony, doctors are promoted and new professors are installed in solemn forms. We are looking for students who want to participate as a marshal. At the Academic Feast, the Marshal is invited to attend the following dinner and will be seated among the guests if possible in connection with each subject.

The Academic Celebration is one of the biggest events of the year at Karlstad University and a long-standing tradition. On 20 October it is time again and this year we celebrate passion for research – we present and inauguarate our new Vice-Chancellor Jerker Moodysson during this year's celebration. Isn’t it obvious that women spend more money than men in the presence of a physically fit male employee? Isn’t it obvious that viewing an opposite-sex individual with an attractive face makes people more motivated to choose healthy rather than unhealthy foods? And, isn’t it obvious that restricting product touch in a store decreases rather than increases consumer spending? After all, these are all beliefs held by consumers and even marketing professors.
