On 25–27 August, twelve doctoral students embarked on an international research programme as part of the European network Privacy&Us at Karlstad University.

Lamps that are switched on and off via an app, garbage cans that signal when it is time to be emptied and children who are tracked via watches. These are all examples of smart units gaining more ground in our everyday lives. Participants in the SNITS lunch on 6 November learned more about the Internet of Things and the technology behind it.
The Internet of Things refers to devices that are not traditionally networked, such as watches, toys and machines.
The Psychology programme includes basic training in psychotherapy and psychological treatment, specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT). Student therapists who are about to finish the Psychology Programme offer therapy sessions as part of their training and under supervision.
As part of the Psychology Programme, we offer free psychotherapy to persons with limited problems.
Academic Celebration 2023 is celebrated on October 20 in Aula Magna at Karlstad University. All professors and honorary doctors are presented at Karlstad CCC in the morning and inaugurated and promoted at the ceremony in the afternoon. During the ceremony, an inauguration of our new Vice-Chancellor at Karlstad University will also take place.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect in May 2018 and will introduce a regulatory framework of new data protection rights for EU citizens. This one-day conference is tailored towards higher education professionals.

Margareta Dahlström, professor in human geography and director of CRS, is a board member of Reglab as of 1 January 2020.
Reglab is a meeting place for regions, authorities, researchers and others to deepen the knowledge of regional development issues. Reglab includes 21 regions, Vinnova, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

What is the focus of your research?
My broad research focuses on software quality assurance and applied soft computing in softwareengineering. Part of this in the past years was using AI to solve software quality assurance problems such astest generation and design.

”Everyone clapped because they were expected to”, is the title of the C-essay which won the 2019 Essay Award presented by the Region West HR Association. The authors are Emma Hammarberg and Fanny Olsson, who studied the Human Resource Management and Working Life programme at Karlstad Business School.
The winning essay in HR studies centres on organisation culture and loyalty. The jury’s citation was, among other things, that the essay is valuable for the HR profession.

Helén Williams, Associate Professor in Environmental and Energy Systems at Karlstad University, is determined to contribute to this goal with insights on the role and environmental impact of packaging.

The Håkan Frisinger Foundation for Transportation Research awarded its 2014 scholarship to Professor Margareta Friman at Karlstad University.
Margareta Friman will receive the scholarship of SEK 250,000 for
