Anna Brunstrom, professor in Computer Science at KAU, arranges a special session on Reducing Internet Latency at the upcoming European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC 2015) in Paris.
The special session is organized as part of the work within the EU FP7 project RITE, where KAU is one of the partners.

- In the course we studied how to create and test models on how we think when we make decisions.

The article "Institutional Complexity as a Driver for Innovation in Service Ecosystems” by Jaakko Siltaloppi, Kaisa Koskela-Huotari and Stephen L. Vargo has been presented the Informs Service Science 2017 Best Article Award.
– The article uses institutional theory to explain why diversity is important for novel ideas. Institutions here refer to the rules, norms and meanings that guide how people think and act.

Janna Dervisic is a new PhD student in Business Administration at Karlstad Business School. She is placed at CTF, Service Research Center, and part of the Swedish Research School of Management and Information Technology, MIT. Her research will focus on innovation, services and digital technology.
Janna Dervisic has a master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlstad University, and has been working in the construction industry the past year.
The research project “Sámi ‘Trail of Tears’ Walking Trail” has now been completed. Richard Ek, professor of human geography and project leader, talks about the importance of the control being with the indigenous population and that the culture surrounding Sápmi is extremely important in keeping the stories surrounding the forced displacement of the Sámi alive.
– Our findings have confirmed what we’ve known all along, Richard Ek explains.

Majken Jul Sørensen, senior lecturer of sociology, has recently been appointed Director of the popular CRS graduate school together with Marie Nordfeldt, professor of social work.
Majken Jul Sørensen's research deals primarily with non-violent resistance and grassroot movements. Her interest in non-violent social movements, conflict change, as well as humour and political activism, centres, among other things, on human capacity to effect change from the bottom-up.

Organizations use idea screening to select which ideas to develop into innovation projects. The question is how do experts decide if an idea is good? It is a complex interplay of intuition, analysis and sensemaking, according to a new study from CTF, Center for Service Research at Karlstad University.
The researchers have mapped and analyzed activities that expert evaluators use to screen ideas, and how these activities are used to identify ideas of high quality.

Choral singing is a geographically widespread phenomenon in Sweden. Despite this, it has received relatively limited attention in research. Until now. Per Göransson, who recently completed his PhD in Human Geography at Karlstad University, has done research on the subject.

Angela Caridà have a Ph D in Economic and Management of Healthcare. Her main areas of interest are service innovation, interactive marketing and co-creation. In the last two years her research focus has been on the service innovation in healthcare.
