The forum's members come from several disciplines, such as sociology, gender studies, social work, public health, and nursing.

About us
Our goal is to increase knowledge about violence and violence prevention from an interdisciplinary perspective, by collaborating within academia and with the surrounding society, educating and otherwise spreading knowledge, and being involved in the public debate around violence. Members of the forum research various aspects of violence, such as the concept of violence and the forms of expression of violence, political and cultural violence, domestic violence including violence against children and honor-related violence, sexual abuse, consequences of various forms of violence, and murder and filicide.
Furthermore, our research focus on backgrounds, causes and experiences of violence from a historical perspective. One ambition is to understand the global causes and effects of contemporary violence by examining the connections between the past and the present. Cultural values and perceptions surrounding patterns of structural, symbolic and individual acts of violence are studied.
