On October 21, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University hosted the ninth annual scientific conference, gathering Swedish transport researchers around issues concerning the Swedish transport system. This year’s conference was held virtually via zoom.

Per Skålén, professor of Business Administration, have received funding from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond to conduct full-time research in 2022. During this time he will further develop his research on marketing practices.

Lars Järnström, professor of coating technology, came to Karlstad University in 1999 and has been involved in building the current strong research environment for fibre-based processes and products. Now retirement is approaching but he will continue working at the university as senior professor.

Birgitta Haglund was born in Halmstad and lived there until graduating upper secondary school. After general psychology studies in Gothenburg, she was admitted to dentistry school.
Researchers at CTF have been granted 3.9 million SEK for research on future customer experiences. In the project the researchers will develop new knowledge on how to make retail and the hospitality industry more attractive through digitalization.

Annika Jonsson is an associate professor of sociology at the Department of Social and Psychological Studies, and active in REVA. With a background in interactionism, feminist theory, and the sociology of religion, she researches death and continuing bonds. She has published articles in journals such as Death Studies and Contemporary Social Science.

In a new doctoral thesis from CTF, Pernille K Andersson is investigating how the servicescape is changed by the influence of music, self-disclosure, and eye gaze on service encounter experience and approach avoidance behavior.
- Our feelings and behavior are continuously affected by our surroundings. Stores have servicescapes which have a big influence on customer’s experiences and purchase decisions, says Pernille K Andersson.

Researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, have been granted funding from the research council Formas, to plan and further develop the project "Social dimensions in urban and regional planning: the importance of perceived accessibility".

In a recently published CTF article, researchers Frida Skarin, Lars E. Olsson, Margareta Friman and Erik Wästlund address the factors that affect behavioral changes in public transport.
The researchers have studied a two-week free public transportation-trial where people, who fulfilled certain criteria, were allowed to travel free of charge by public transport for two weeks.
