Sture Nöjd is a new PhD student in Psyhology at CTF. His research will focus on the development of digital tools and services based on the needs and possibilities that customers, patients, and citizens are experiencing, or could expect to experience in the future. Sture is a certified psychologist and graduated from Umeå Unviersity in 2000.

His doctoral studies will be conducted within VIPP the industrial graduate school. - "Strengthening the transformative capacity of the pulp and paper industry by seeking new ways of producing, transferring and assessing knowledge" is the working title for my project. The focus is on service innovation and business models for the forest industry. My research environment will be at CTF.

On December 9-13, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University will host a multi-disciplinary seminar series consisting of five talks on Service System Transformation, in which researchers from different perspectives and approaches within service research will illuminate the research area. The seminars will focus on global societal challenges and how transformation within social systems works.

Together with the County Council of Värmland and CGI, they will develop and test a digital method for patient involvement in healthcare.

Henrietta Huzell, director at CTF and lecturer of working life science at Karlstad University, will be the new vice dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Karlstad University. - It is a fun assignment with big responsibility which I am looking forward to. Four fantastic years at CTF has given me the courage and desire to take on more responsibility. I am also glad that CTF’s former director, Patrik Larsson, is the dean.
Karlstad University arrange an academic celebration in the autumn of every year. The celebration includes doctoral and honorary doctorate conferment ceremonies, the installation of new professors, and presentation of medals and scholarships. Karlstad University was inaugurated on 22 January 1999. As a young university, we wish to preserve a long-standing academic tradition of ceremonies dating back to the Middle Ages, while commemorating our own history and identity.

Jana Huck will conduct her doctoral studies in the field of innovation management, focusing on service innovation and its implementation. – I want to explore, among other things, what organizational factors contribute to the successful implementation of service innovations and how digital solutions can support the implementation process.

Over the next two years, researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, will investigate how the Internet of Things, IoT, can be used in creating a better school environment and improving student health. The project will be carried out together with a number of actors and is based on a secondary school in Arvika Municipality, Sweden. The focus of the project is to find out how IoT can measure children’s and young people’s health at school.

Welcome Linda Bergkvist!

We welcome Linda Bergkvist, Ph. D in Information Systems, to our research team. She defended her thesis on outsourcing in the IT industry in June, and will now pursue her research at CTF. - Towards new challenges. That was the opening words in the preface of my dissertation. I remember my time as a graduate student as joyful and rewarding, and it is with a smile that I now continue my academic journey.

Olle, could you tell us about your background before joining Karlstad Business School and the Service Research Center (CTF)? – I have a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlstad Business School, where I studied the master's program in Innovation and Service Development. During my time at Karlstad Business School, I also taught mathematics to first-year students, which was both fun and educational.
